What desktop replacment should look like

That is my opinion on what desktop replacment for 3d professional/gamer should be:
Dispaly: 17"
CPU: dual core at least 2.16 (preferably AMD Turion X2 2.2)
RAM: at least 2Gb (preferably 4Gb)
GPU: Nvidia 7900 Go (preferably 7900 Go GTX)
HDD: at least 100Gb 7200RPM

Extreme config (not for me)
19" display, SLI cards, dual HDD, new socket desktop CPU

It seems all components are already (or almoste) in place, with NVIDIA annoncment of mobile 7900 and Turion X2 coming in may. Now the question is, when it all will be combined ? Bottleneck seems 7900, will laptop manufacturers start putting it in couple of month ?

So what's the point of this thread?

I think a DTR is a laptop that you use the same way as you'd use your desktop without needing to compromise functionality because of the laptop's smaller size. It's not a set-in-stone configuration like you mention. For many people, a DTR can be a PM1.6 with a 60GB HDD and a 64mb video card, 'cause they don't play games.

What you described is a gaming laptop, and extreme overkill to a lot of people.

What he described was the d900 chassis, except for the GPU.
