Extended Laptop Warrenty from Acer? Anyone buy?

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone has picked up the extended warrenty from Acer.

I'm looking at both the basic 2 year extention and the Acer advantange warrenty. I like the whole accident free replacement thing with the Acer Advantage thing.

I want it cause i'll be going to med school in sept. and i picked up the Acer 5672WLMi-120GB-2GB version for 1700CAD taxes in a month back, and apparently i can still buy the extended warrenty on it and because i'll be travelling overseas, their travellers warrenty will actually be effective for me.

Just wondering if anyone has taken the plunge? and how usefull it was for them? i'm more prone for it if it will cover the battery as well; but can't seem to find out from Acer...

Seemed like a good deal - only £69 for 2 years in the UK. I didn't buy it though. If you buy it on a Nationwide credit card you get an extra year warranty for free.

I bought the 2 year advantage. I have not activated it because i do not have the notebook yet, i canceled the order.. because they had it on back order.

I bought it (because my boss told me to). No need to use it so far.

I have been thinking about buying one as well. Does anyone know if you have to have it purchased by a certain number of days after receiving/registering the machine, or can you buy it any time within the first year warranty?
I think it is 30 days after you purchase the machine. I could be wrong tough, maybe someone else in here has gotten the warrenty.

ok i found this on the acer website

I called Acer and they said you can purchase it within 1 year.

Anyone know if the battery is included as well?
Yeah, I've been wondering about that too.
I actually emailed Acer France about it (yeah that's where I live) and I'm waiting for their reply.
I know the 1 year-warranty works for them but I'm interested in buying the extension as well: it's either 99 euros (about $120) or 169 euros ($210) for 3 years. The most expensive one also covers accidental falls and such from what I understood.
Warranty must be purchased within 15 days after buying the laptop.

Did they tell you that it had to be purchased within 15 days? or are you going by what it says on the website?

I actually called in to purchase and the guy there told me i can purchase it within 1 year (or anytime during the original warrenty period) this is for North America btw so i'm still confused... also i havn't been able to findout from anyone if the battery is covered i know the charger and stuff probibly isn't but i'm more concerned with the battery cause i know within 3 years i'll have to replace it for sure... so want to make sure its included.

I found this on the Acer website for both the 2 and 3 year coverages:

The following services are not covered under this Agreement. However, if requested by the Customer, the repair or replacement of the Equipment requiring service under these conditions may be performed by Acer at the then current terms, conditions, and rates for such service and as agreed to by Acer.

2. Services for accessories, attachments, or other devices used with the Equipment, including but not limited to electrical work, external interconnecting cords and cables, batteries, AC adapters, and plastics.

That sounds like no on the batteries. Why the CSR's couldn't tell you this, I don't know...

I didnt get the warranty but i just had to call Acer to report a problem with the transformer. I have an Acer Ferrari 4005 and for some reason, 6 months after i bought it, it just stopped working (wasnt the fuse i checked that).

Anyways, i called them, got through to them within minutes and the problem was sorted within 4 mins! Id heard bad things about Acer support but the guy i got through to believed i had a genuine problem and was prepared to dispatch a new one withint 20 seconds of me connecting to him.

So ok this doesnt answer your question but i was very impressed

Hi guys, 1st post here, so go easy

I am looking into purchasing a Acer 8202/4 Im based in the UK and noticed that Acer 1 year warranty is international. As I plan to purchase the laptop now and plan to move to Australia in 5 months, will my warranty be picked up by Acer Autralia?. Plus if I register the extended 3yr warranty with Acer UK, would I also be covered for that period in Australia.

Any feedback you can give to my questions would be very much appreciated.

I called customer service, and they said that the web site has yet to be updated with the new policy, which is: the warranty upgrades can be purchased at any time within the original warranty period (i.e., 1 year from purchase).

I think that's pretty safe information...

Over a year ago I purchased my TM8104 and Acer support stated the same to me then. I believe they want you to register within a short period but have 1 year to decide on the ext. warranty.

I'm going to purchase one for my TM8204. Who has the lowest price?
Okay they replied: you have 360 days from the date of purchase to buy the extended 3 year-warranty.

Grrrrrr, it's available 2-4 weeks on CompUSA now!
I wanted to get it when I come to Cali in 10 days!!!!!
Anywhere else I could find it?

i Just called Acer PanAmerica and they said 1 year to me, and so far we have another that said they were told the same.

I would suggest everyone call Acer straight, and speak with a rep and findout directly... i'm going by the 1 year... its 280USD ( i think, could be CAD since i go to the canadian website, but for some reason i don't think it is) i want to wait cause i wanna know if spending $400 on warrenty will be work it on the $1500 5672-120GB-2GB-XPH

I think I only spent about $120 on a 2 year extension. And I believe I'd been told that that warranty included battery coverage, as well as A/C power cord and converter coverage. Why wouldn't it? I'd better get replacement if I have problems with mine, or I'll be pretty peeved (and I love Acer).

Don't buy directly from Acer. It's a commodity item.

Search Froogle or the other price comparison sites for 146.AD077.002. A quick look shows the best price of $160USD.

I travel a lot so $160 for 3 years plus accident is worth it.
