That is a good price, and yes you can definitely upgrade the processor later, it's very easy to do, Did mine myself on about 30 min.

Cheers

GO GATOR'S!!!!
Wouldn't the "DUO" be faster in almost any application????
I find myself doing a couple of things at once without even realizing it.....
for $49.00 more I ordered the DUO!

Great deal, I'm envious.

How'd you get a go7800 on it, I thought they weren't offering them on the 9400s for the time being, with the Radeon x1400 as the only choice...?

How do you guys find such good deals on Dell Outle? The few times I have looked through their stock, their prices are barely less than the same config of new systems. What's the trick?

the trick? does wasting an entire day qualify as a trick? If you know the forum fatwallet.com (they post deals all the time), one guy said 45 minutes past every hour they post the new deals, but I never noticed. I just kept refreshing and really just stumbled on this one...

btw, I o'ced my 7800 with 1.2v mod yesterday and am at 5900 on 3dmark05

good luck

Nice. Best deal for a 9400/7800go combo at the Dell Outlet ATM is $1919 - bargain (not!). I'll keep looking.

I am with you, I check the outlet fairly often as well but the configs still dont come near the price for a new one, even if you add the extra cost of the 7800 or 7900, whichever makes its return/debut, later this month or next month.

I think I am pretty much gonna wait as well.

Another issue to think about with the Merom cores - getting rid of a lower end Yonah may be problematic at best. You market is limited to those folks that got the T1300 and then you have to narrow the field even more for those that are willing to upgrade the CPU themselves. Pretty small market if you have a 1.83 or less DUO.

I would say to spend the cash on the T2500 now and then wait until next summer to upgrade to the first gen Merom at that time. You may have a better chance of getting rid of the T2500 vs. the T2400 or less.

2.0Ghz seems to be the virtual boundry for resale as well.

Just food for thought. My opinion only. I personally am struggling with the decision to spend 200.00 extra for the 2.0Ghz, just doesn't seem to be worth it Pricevs. Performance, but I am wondering about resale value in a year.

I am basically taking the T1300 as a complete loss if I want to upgrade and you know what, I get 6000 on 3dmark05 and I got this for gaming, so why upgrade now? I am totally happy with this cpu and there's no way I'm spending $200-$500 for a core duo at this point.
