has anyone figured out why sometimes the "when i close lid go into hibernate " just magically disappears? i have done a web search. no answer. when i use IBM's power utility and i click "apply" it changes back. same when i use windows power options.

Couple of days ago hiberate and standby ceased working / being available on my T42. I have no response from Fn-F4 or Fn-F12, and standby / hibernate are no longer options on my shut-down menu.

I reinstalled the power management drivers to the latest (v 1.33, I think?but it still doesn't work)...........my gf's is having the same problem. wont hibernate when the lid is closed. hotkeys dont do anything either. when going through IBM power management and "enable hibernation is clicked" it stays until i hit "apply". then it automatically unclicks itself. when going through windows is appears to stay. click "ok" and when i access the power manager again it has reverted back to previous settings. any answers yet?

Hi MaximumCanon,

I have a T43p and have exactly the same problem as you, did you ever find the solution ? This is driving me nuts.

PS - Do you use and software such as TPFancontrol or NHC ?

Yes I have the same problem. Clicking apply will uncheck the "enable hibernation" box. My shutdown menu only has Log Off, Shutdown and Restart. This happened after pushing a clone onto my laptop. The source machine worked fine. after ghosting it with an image from that machine I lost all ACPI features. Tried updating BIOS, reinstalled video drivers, power management drivers, .NET 2.0 im almost at the end of the rope.
