Lid paint problem

Thread Starter
I've been using a T42 for 3 months, (bought this brand new machine in December/05) and no matter I've handled it with care, the mate rubber paint corners of the lid are peeling off showing the black lustre metal underneath... so would like to hear from you guys (and gals...) some ideas to protect the corners, It worries me that the rubber paint keeps degrading... has anybody had the same problem?

Never move it or touch it. Just kidding, I just got my first Thinkpad and it will stay mostly at home for the time being. If I had your issue I would be going onto e-Bay and looking for new T42 LCD or at the very least the casing for it. Good luck!

That's because you have an R series. It's just molded plastic. It doesn't have the rubber coating the T's, X's, etc. do. Take a look at this pic of a guy's T4x and R50.

I take my Ts on the road with me all the time and i dont have the paint rub problem. Maybe consider using a differnet case to hold it more snug. If it doesnt move, it wont rub, it wont wear away.
