Go-L Did it again! (SCAM WARNING!) - Page 2

Hello again.

Actually we've a design and working prototypes of the 17" Hollywood running on a Centrino platform (basically the same motherboard design as the upcoming New Yorker).

Unfortunately, our market research gave us mixed results as far general interest on the unit. There seems to be a populrity issue with Intel's Centrino product. The name, the confusion about the name of the CPU as Pentium-M, the clock speed vs. performance and more. We've had plans to release a 17" Hollywood based on the Dothan architecture (basically Centrino 2) but as you all know, Intel has now pushed back the product till later this year so everything on our end is on hold.

By the way, our design, engineering, prototyping and pre-manufacturing facilities are located in Marina Del Rey in Los Angeles, and we invite anyone interested for a tour of the facility and preview of some the upcoming products.

Either way, we plan to release by mid/late summer a Centrino 2 based 17" Hollywood. Only waiting on Intel and they are not making our life any easier.

On a last note, first-hand, expect an Athlon64 FX based 17" Hollywood (most likely with NVidia graphics) very, very soon.

Best regards and thank you for everyone's interest.

Hello again deltawalkerl.

We are indeed planning opening a store in Manhattan within this year. LA first and then NY. That has been the plan from day one. The only issue is cost. We want to do it really nice. Hopefully, the coolest Computer Store yet. Not a cheap project as prices for real estate/ commercial leasing in NY are absolutely insane.

As you know we are a very young company and cash flow is always an issue. We are putting all our investment efforts in 1) Customer Service and Support and 2) Product Development. For us the issue of customer support is the most important as we feel that's where most other companies lag. At making the sale everyone's great, at supporting the product, almost everyone is mediocre. Because we sell high end machines, we feel customers should expect from us, support at the same level. That is our current main focus on "where the money goes".

Also, traditionally computer stores are not very profitable. One good example is Gateway. Their stores literally almost ruined the company. Another one are the Apple Stores. Beautiful spaces, great design and atmosphere and always packet with people. But the number of sales those stores generate is low and the short and long-term profitability of them is questionable.

So that's our corporate game plan. For us to be on the East Coast is a major point. We just need to do it carefully and well planned. Either way you will see throughout the year several major retailers carrying some of our products. It's all on the works and final negotiations

Best regards and again thank you for your interest.

Wow! I'll definitely keep my eyez open for the release of the New Yorker and future models of the Hollywood. A 17" Hollywood, Dothan, WUXGA, and etc... sounds great to me. And the way XP is configured sounds interesting too.

By the way, how heavy are the Hollywood's?

Oh, boy. Um... Gateway? Voodoo? Ever hear of them? Yet another bull**** claim by the infamous Go-L. You're embarrassing yourself, go away.
I dont think gateway offers PM and a 128 9600 combo. But paying 2x the price for one is absolutely insane. Go-i if u lower your prices it might seem realistic, but a 4000 dollar notebook? nope not a chance. You guys need to change some marketing strategies.

Go-L-Support.... CGame Programmers is right... you guys arent the first ones with "Special Feature(s) World's first "Centrino" notebook with 128MB DDR Video and ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro"

I believe this is yet ANOTHER misprint? If you guys are legit... please stop using these claims.

Actually you're right. Voodoo has the Centrino+128MB 9600, but Gateway only has either a Centrino+64MB 9600 or Pentium4 + 128MB 9600.
I hate to nit-pick, but I think I pointed out that there are already centrino notebooks with 128mb 9600s before CGameProgrammer did...

Awfully strange to admit that Brick and Mortars are a major loser and then merrily plan to build them. Especially for fresh start-up company. Like I said, we'll see what's what on the 8th. Until then, Go-L's record isn't very good.

You make claims of selling units to "MICROSOFT (!!!) POLICE DEPARTMENTS, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, UNIVERSITIES, TV PRODUCTION STUDIOS, SCHOOLS", that's easy to say, but if you want credibility, name the Microsoft Department, the Police Departments, the Governments Agencies, the Universities (identify the department as well), the studios (Liebermann?) and schools. These are mostly public entities so there's not issue with privacy concerns.

Doubling your sales sounds impressive until you realize that two is the double of one.

Well, we will see what we will see on the 8th.
why not partner with CompUSA, like Apple's "Store within a store," and create a "Go-L Store within A Store Wrapped in a Riddle Shrouded in a Mystery Store."

Where do I start?

Mr. Liebermann (Go-L Support), let me start by apologizing on YOUR behalf for YOUR incredibly rude & arrogant behaviour. Fortunately, some of us are smarter than you’d like us to be, and we clearly know more about this industry than you do.

Let’s start by being honest (oh woops, forgot I was writing to the biggest liar on the internet); you’re don’t really do much if any R&D do you?

IN FACT YOU DON'T EVEN BUY FROM CLEVO DO YOU? Be honest, at least I know you don't, because you don't do enough volume. Let's just say a little birdy told me too.

Second, you don’t do any R&D with Clevo at all. In fact, Eurocom Canada does most of the R&D with Clevo. The President of Eurocom has been dealing with Clevo for 17 years and he is at their facilities at least 3 times a year spending time in their R&D labs.

Third, you aren’t the first to have a Centrino with 128 Megabyte ATI 9600. I believe Dell has it with their 8600, Voodoo has it, and there are many others. You still don’t have it so what are you talking about?

“Though the casing is made by Clevo and so is the motherboard, many of the internal peripherals and components are exclusively customized and configured for us.”

Wow, watch the bull**** flow out of your keyboard. I’m amazed that you continue to type this crap yet you know that you’re flat out lying.

“Also, the version of XP we ship is something that no one else has and that alone, puts our machines in a different category.”

You mean the skin you apply to Windows and the fact that you partition your hard drive with “Magic Drive” or whatever bull**** you call it? Face it, you’re doing nothing revolutionary.

“The Pentium 4 3.20 Extreme Edition is in fact compatible on our laptops systems.“

No, it’s not. It’s not compatible with your 17” Hollywood, I’m afraid if you are selling this (which you claim you are) then you are doing your clients a dis-service again, just as you did with your “Dual Channel Memory” which you have yet to comment on. Clevo has not released a bios on this yet, because there are clear stability problems with the SIS chipset and the P4EE processor. I’m sure you’ll weasel this off your website one day, and when you do we’ll all catch it. In fact, I’m sure you talk your customers out of getting the EE processor now with the Hollywood because you want to save face, and not admit that you’re totally wrong.

Here’s a quote from someone in the know “we have P4EE BIOS for D470V but is unstable - R&D has yet to modify M/B to make this to work”.

“We don't care if they are not compatible with Sagers or Prostars.”

Except for the fact that Sager and Prostar sell the same notebook as you do without the stupid rock on the lid.

“We have shipped many and ship them every day.”

Wow, yet not one customer review on the top Reseller site on the internet? (www.resellerratings.com) You must be shipping them in your dreams. If you are shipping them, then again you are doing those clients a disservice and I can’t wait for one of them to post here.

“Sorry to disappoint all of you how seem to envy us so much.”

The last thing I do is envy you people. I’d hate to be in your position right now.

“Furthermore, the upcoming 3.40 Extreme edition is ALSO compatible with our systems.”

Haha, except the Hollywood. Good thing you just said “systems”.

“In the same way for example, Bluetooth is NOT available in the 17" Sager because of and USB Channel conflict with the TV Tuner.”

Nice try, but the D470V is available with TV Tuner already built in or without. It doesn’t affect the Blue Tooth like in the previous version when you run them both on the same USB channel. The risk you are taking is generating noise on the Blue Tooth channel but I’m sure your “extensive R&D labs and testing facilities” will figure this out eventually.

“Again, on our systems, that was re-designed, it is fully compatible and we ship Bluetooth enabled units every day. Again, not the same machines, again, sorry to disappoint you.“

Again, from your mouth a pile of bull**** flies out like it’s nothing.

”In addition, the upcoming new Hollywood Gold is compatible with the new Prescott CPU within the current 478 Pin packaging, AND, it is an all-new computer, INCLUDING the external casing... no more "SAGERing" for all you folks ready to point finger at everything.”

You mean the D870P? Ya it supports Prescott, so does the Sager, and every other socket 478 with the right chipset. So you are getting your own custom lid? Still a Sager/Prostar with a lid I guess.

“And finally the best of news so you can all shut-up once and for good: on February 8th, we are opening our first retail store in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. There you can all go in, try the machines, benchmark them, see for yourselves how they perform including the new ones with the Extreme Edition CPUs and the new Prescotts, all our Desktops, Servers, monitors and more. Have fun ”

Just in time, the D470V will be phased out (Hollywood) just in time for you to brush it under the mat. Good thing there’s more stuff on your site that’s out to lunch, but I guess time will tell. Good thing you’re opening up in an area where people are impulsive and don’t do research, I’m sure you’ll pull the wool over their eyes for awhile.

“10 MONTHS AGO WE WERE NOT EVEN DOING BUSINESS YET!”

Quote from your website.

02/2003 - Announcing development of OLED Notebook displays
02/2003 - "Rock your world" tm new Corporate Slogan

According to your website you were doing pretty much everything.

“COPYING APPLE'S WEBSITE NOT ONLY DO WE NOT AGREE”

Ya, we all expected you’d lie about that too.

“PLEASE HAVE "HIM" CONTACT OUR LEGAL DEPARTMENT AND WE WILL PROMPTLY MAKE ANY NECESSARY CORRECTIONS REGARDING HE'S INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ON "HIS" BEHALF AND BEST INTERESTS.”

Sir, legal department? If you had one you wouldn’t have written this stupid letter suggesting a lawsuit on an open forum. Your “legal” department would have told you to keep your mouth shut, but I guess you knew that already too.

“COMPUTERS. WHAT DID YOU? SWEAR AT EVERYONE YOU'D LOVE BUY A PRODUCT FROM BUT DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR, MAYBE?”

Nice try to insult people on a forum, but as a representative from a “major” company as you claim, you sir, are proving yourself to be a jackass.

“NO SIR. IF YOU HAVE A NIGERIAN BACKGROUND UNFORTUNATELY WE DO NOT. AND UNLIKE SAGER (ETC.) THERE IS NOT A SINGLE TAIWANESE PERSON IN OUR ENTERPRISE. WE ARE ALL AMERICANS.”

Again, more disrespect. Not only are you disrespecting Sager for hiring Taiwanese people but you are supposedly buying from Taiwanese people. Why would you even bring this up? Why on earth would you insult all Taiwanese people with this stupid statement? I know people from Taiwan that apply better English in their written responses then you do. Shame on you.

“IF YOU HAVE PROOF OF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING, PLEASE GO AHEAD. IF YOU DO NOT, MAKE SURE YOU DON'T PUT YOUR NAME ON IT OR AS FAR AS WE ARE CONCERNED WE CAN FORESEE YOUR LAST NAME CHANGED TO LAWSUIT. YOU MIGHT JOKE AT THESE MATTERS BUT WE DO NOT. NOT GOOD FOR YOU.”

Again, plenty of proof in this email. If anyone wants to they can feel free to research it. By the way, for a representative of a company to threaten a lawsuit on an open forum not only displays your unprofessionalism, but it shows that you are a lot smaller than you claim. Nice try Miguel.

“Indeed the actual specs are "Main Chipset Intel 855PM+ICH4-M". The 855GME chipset claim on our news release page is indeed a misprint,”

More like a dumb mistake again.

“ based a mainboard redesign 3 months ago, and... the information not having been properly updated on our web.”

Based on a mistake on your part 3 months ago, and the crap keeps flowing from your knuckles.

“Actually we've a design and working prototypes of the 17" Hollywood running on a Centrino platform (basically the same motherboard design as the upcoming New Yorker).”

No you haven’t, Clevo has, and if they decide to release it everyone will carry it.

“By the way, our design, engineering, prototyping and pre-manufacturing facilities are located in Marina Del Rey in Los Angeles, and we invite anyone interested for a tour of the facility and preview of some the upcoming products.”

Ya sure. I recommend anyone in the area take him up on this offer. I’m sure all you’ll see are pre-samples of products that pretty much everyone in this business has already.

“On a last note, first-hand, expect an Athlon64 FX based 17" Hollywood (most likely with NVidia graphics) very, very soon.”

Again, a Eurocom first. Eurocom was speaking with Clevo about this months ago. Not a Go-L first.

MORE interesting stuff

”That is our current main focus on "where the money goes".”

..and the bull**** flows.

”Also, traditionally computer stores are not very profitable. One good example is Gateway. …Another one are the Apple Stores. Beautiful spaces, great design and atmosphere and always packet with people. But the number of sales those stores generate is low and the short and long-term profitability of them is questionable.”

Not that I’m an Apple fan, but anyone will tell you that this too is an interesting observation.

Mr. Go-L,

I am sure you’ll dismiss this email as me being jealous of your company. What you don’t realize is people who surf these forums do their research, we’re all smarter than you think. If you do decide to reply, perhaps you can reply to each and every point this time and not dismiss the entire email like you did before.

You have proven yourself to be incompetent. With your latest “ATI Mobility 9700” stunt, then pulling it from your site after ATI told you to pull it down, to your Dual Channel crap, not to mention this email. Good job.

Oh, I didn't see that little note about the AFX notebook with nVidia graphics.

Let me make this perfectly clear to you (so your "R&D department" can fix it), and everyone else that might be reading this thread:
ANYONE that knowingly chooses to use ANY of nVidia's GeForce FX GPUs is a f**king moron.

The GeForce FX line is, collectively, the largest screw-up in the history of the graphics card industry, and likely in the history of the entire PC industry.

None of the cards, including the 5950s, can run DX9 code with any kind of acceptable speed, and the image quality is still far inferior to ATi's.

nVidia's GeForce, GeForce2, GeForce3, and GeForce4 chips were all excellent GPUs for their time, although the image quality was never quite as good as ATi's. The GeForce FX, on the other hand, is a huge steaming pile of crap.

So, why don't you get your "design, engineering, prototyping and pre-manufacturing facilities" working on producing an AMD-based notebook with a halfway decent GPU?

what trully baffles me is that they have chosen the Ovarian and Colon Cancer Survivor symbol as the company logo. granted, i doubt it's copyrighted or trademarked...but danm, is nothing sacred?
