I realize that going from a 6 Cell to 9 cell will yield longer battery life.

If I used the XPS M170 Charger, 130W, What would be the benefit from it in combination with the 9 Cell battery...?

Also, What modifications to the computer are necessary to accomodate the 130W Charger?

make sure that charger is ok for the 9400 before you use it. i thought they changed charges with the switch from 9300-9400.

If the plug fits, the charger should work, but it will provide no added benefit over the 90W charger for the E1705. Current is drawn, not pushed, and the E1705 is only designed to draw 90W of power. There would be a problem if you used a smaller power supply. I could use my 9100's 150W power supply and it would work. Dell uses the same style power supply for almost all laptops now, just make sure it's rated for a high enough wattage.
