Hp Ze4000

Hello,

After taking a break from looking at laptops, I found out my dad can get a discount with HP on their laptops. I currently have an HP and it has lasted me nearly three years now.

The laptop I am looking at buying is the ZE4600. Athlon XP-M 2400+ 1.8Ghz, Windows XP Home with Works, 256MB RAM, 30GB 4200RM HD, DVD/CDRW Combo Drive, 802.11B Wireless Lan, 10/100 Ethernet, 56K modem, 14.1 TFT XGA (1024 X 768), ATI Mobility 7000, 2-year HP Express Warranty. All for $920.25 after a $100 rebate. I feel like this is a good buy and my parents are pleased. I can get a 15.0in screen instead of the 14in screen. I didn't see the need to because both run the same resolution and right now I have a 13.3in screen.

The only other thing I'll be adding is Microsoft Office and later on a 256MB upgrade to a total of 512MB Ram. I'll be using the computer for word processing, PowerPoint, Access, Accounting Programs, and general Internet use. Occasionally I'll travel with it. I don't plan on bringing it to class, just the library. Any comments would be great.

Thanks,
Lance

Oceanjet, check my sig. I have almost that exact system. My HD is a 40, but I don't know the RPM. Probably 4200. Everything else is almost equal though. I got mine for $900.00 last June. I thought that was pretty good after shopping around for weeks. Of course my next lappy will NOT be purchased from a retail outlet. My needs/wants are much more specific this time. Anyway, this has been a decent first laptop in my view and when I get my new one this will serve as the resident computer in one of my retail businesses. BTW, HP service has been very good on the one opportunity I had to send this in. It took exactly 7 days to get my rig back. I thought that was pretty good.

Oceanjet I just bought an HP ze4560 with a 2500+,512mb,40GB Harddrive,DVD-CDRW combo, wireless, lan, modem etc. I see it's a similar system to the one you want, and I paid only $950 after rebates. For the price I don't think you can get a better deal, so far it has worked great and it even runs games ok. And the battery life is very good also.
