Other people are reporting a heat issue producing a black screen in Oblivion when HDR lighting is enabled. Did the 1.12 patch introduce HDR lighting? Just a thought.

Well I installed my 7800GTX on the weekend, and just tried to run BF2. I have it patched to the latest version (1.21).

I managed to get to the level load screen, but then it got stuck at 62%, and when I pressed escape it spent three minutes claiming it was 'unloading resources' at which point I got bored and rebooted.

From my experience though, BF2 tends to black screen if you are cracking the game or had a no-cd crack on it before and have since patched it. But it's a very buggy game. I thought actually buying it would remove some of the bugs, but alas, not really.

This really is the sad truth of it. I really don't miss working in the software industry. QA has be ground under by greed.

At least BF2 actually works...kinda...

I recently bought X3: Reunion and was disgusted to find that the 1.4 patch actually breaks the story. So even after 5 patches, the game still isn't finished. They should recall it, and slap 'Free Public Beta' on the front cover. Why should we have to pay for such blatantly unfinished rubbish?

It's not just the gamers, it's all consumers.
