actually to tell you the truth i haven't gotten the x2-4800 i'm like $120 short so i have everything in that list except the cpu. if i were to get the Opteron 165 what would i need to OC that? cause if it's cheaper and its better i guess i should get it. also i saw this forum that you can overclock the Opteron 165 up to 3.0Ghz w/ watercooling!!! http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/79...ht=Opteron+165
but i dont' know anything about changing the voltages or the ram timings.

its funny cuz your CPU's will be out of date June 6th, Socket AM2 is comming out rendering all your CPU/mobo HW incompatible

Same was said about socket 754- and you can still get upgrades, and that beast of a system will be beating what ever I could afford years from now. Get what you want, though I'd have gone for a 2TB raid 5 array for storage and raid 1+0 for progs... but then I suspect you odnt want to spent a grand on storage.

Get the opteron, and there are guides available + if you have a decent mothebaord changing this stuff is fairly simple, mst people can do it.

i cant remember the last time i spent 2500$ + on a build.

H2DJ,
Nothing is wrong with your parts. You should be doing this for you, not someone else.
You cannot please everybody, but you can find satisfaction for yourself.
Go with what you have and experience and need will direct you if something needs changed out.
