A70 Satellite won't start

HI everyone

I have a A70 satellite and the other day we had a power cut and my computer was plugged in directly into the outlet (always use a power bar as protection is todays advice) but since then it is completely dead. When i plug it in, the little lights don't light up and the computer does not start at all. I don't think this kind of problem is covered by the warranty but is there still hope for my computer?

Thanks a lot for your advice

I'm not suggesting that you lie, but you might take it in for service and act dumb, something like "I push the button and the lights don't come on". Before you do anything, hold the power button for a full 5 seconds. Then, take the battery out and let it sit unplugged for half an hour.

Ya... I'd play "dumb" about the power thing. Make 'em fix or replace it.

Try and remove the battery and disconnect the power to the notebook for 30secs.

Then plug the AC power back in only (not the battery) and see if it turns on.

If your laptop is covered under warranty, you do not have to play "dumb". Just take it to Toshiba repair center and say that it is dead. That's it. They will not ask a lot of questions, believe me.

P.S. I just got a new Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop for myself 3 hours ago. Sweet!
Now reloading Windows XP Pro.

Thanks for all your advice. It is very encouraging. I have tried removing the battery and when I put it back in the light comes on for one sec, so there is hope. I need to check if my warranty is valid. I bought my computer in Canada and I am now in India. So I will find out when i go to the Toshiba office.
