Who manufactures the 15.4" LCD?

I think I saw someone mentioning Hitachi as the manufacturer for the 15.4" WSXGA+ LCD for the Widescreen option.

Anyone able to confirm or correct me?

Thanks in advance!

I was told by tech-support that the 15.4" is made by Samsung. I originally had the 16.1", but the display was washed out and very grainy during DVD playback. I was assured by Tech-Support that the 15.4" was Samsung. I attempted to boot from a Knoppix/Linux cd-rom, which supposedly could identify the LCD manufacturer and couldn't. I wish there was a way to verify it. If anyone knows a way to identify the LCD manufacturer, please inform everyone.

ps: Riva Tuner doesn't work.

Hrm... I downloaded PowerStrip ... ( http://www.entechtaiwan.net/files/pstrip.exe ) which is a useful utility that allows you to do many things, such as set up custom gamma/color settings for different applications, overclock the video chip/memory and identify characteristics of your video card/monitor.

Anyways, I was able to check out the manufacturer and serial number of my desktop monitor (Dell 2000FP Ultrasharp), by Right-clicking the PowerStrip icon in the taskbar, selecting options... and then monitor information.

This brings up an extensive monitor information window. The initial data appears to be read from the registry, as you can see under options on the bottom left side, and you can select "Read data directly from monitor".

By choosing that option, I can read that my manufacturer is Dell, Model ID is DELL 2000FP, Serial number is 9E2492BF098L and even my date of manufacturer, 2002, ISO week 46.

Its got more cool info in there such as color characteristics, video type, max refresh and resolution, and other stuffs!

Check it out!
