Having problems running Windows Defender on E1705

Thread Starter
This is the "new" anit-spyware from M$. Installs fine, updates fine, but when I hit "Scan" it pops up a weird error message box (cryptic somewhat, so no point showing an image)..

Any way, same said program runs fine on XP Pro and XP 64 as well as a Toshiba laptop (Celery based) with XP Home..

Anyone else run into this?

I can uninstall and re-install but same thing always seems to happen on this laptop..

PS: I don't care how bad M$ anti-spyware, I'm just curious about the above problem.

could it be a compatibility issue with XP MCE2005?
(You didn't note it as a compatible OS.... what OS you running?

Interesting... I have no issues on my 9400 with MCE 2005. I have mine set to scan automatically, but it's initial scan was fine. I can try hitting my "scan" button when I go home...

Maybe you're missing a certain component (does it need .net framework or something...?), or it's conflicting with another program (anti-virus or firewall or something).

Maybe post an image of the error anyways?...
