Inspiron 8500 Power no Boot

A customer brought this laptop in to us to fix because it would not boot. We were not told a diagnosis but after opening it up a bit and looking we figured that something was spilled on the keyboard (and apparently, awhile before the laptop stopped working as well) because of the sticky residue (later told it was a can of soda). We first suspected that this was the cause of laptop not booting, but we were assured that it did indeed work after (for a long time).

We do get a battery indicator light, and when the power switch is pressed for a few seconds (three to four tops) we get a power LED. The laptop does not post, or otherwise give us an indication that it is indeed turning on.

Does the notebook sit in that mode or does it power off afterwards?

The notebook powers down and the battery indicator light stays on.

Sounds like a friend board or power inverter. Its extremely unlikely that the battery is the culprit. an 8500 board is very expensive from DELL SPARE PARTS division so you might have to research around for refurbed 8500 boards from the net.

is your best bet.
