Will my laptop run on just one memory stick

I've determined that my Dell laptop XPS Inspirion, has a bad stick--will it run on just one stick--it is 1 gig-until I can buy a new one?

Don't see why it wouldn't. YOu won't be running in dual channel mode, but I've heard it isn't much of a drop in speed with the PM's.
