His work does, indeed, look pretty decent - although, according to posts on other forums that I've read, it might have looked even better if he had used automotive paint instead of plastic paint. While both adhere to plastic just fine, the automotive paint supposedly dries smoother and more lustrous.
Muhaha, you make a good point; were I to screw up, which seems likely even if I practice painting before I start work on the laptop, I won't be out much money.
SmilePak, I don't have the skills either - but I'll never develop them if I never try. As Muhaha pointed out, the worst cost of a mistake is less than twenty dollars to have a new palm rest shipped plus the cost of automotive paint. If you fail, you're not out all that much. If you succeed, you have a beautiful laptop that you modded yourself, which is pretty cool in my book.
