mine is 06/03, bought 1 week ago.
The screen is samsung, and grey line still there, but I can live w/ it.
The brightness is good, I set level to 40% for normal usage.
There's some minimal light leakage, no dead pixel, no dark corner.
Plus the GraviSense software does't work.
There's no other issue.

Another point: the memory is 1G 667M speed (in chinese, 1G is standard configuration). Through I buy another 533M stick (I assume the stock stick is 533M before upgrade), I need more RAM than speed.

The stock memory speed (benchmarked by AIDA32):
Read 4471 Write 1342

The inferior 533M memory:
Read 3907 Write 1234

Both stick:
Read 4254 Write 1428

Oh great!

I mean, I think I could live with the grey lines, cause if not reading about it on the forum, I would not notice that, plus I have five other different desktop LCDs failing the grey line test and they work great for me.

My main concern is the buzzing, if this one is still úresent in the 06/03 batch? Not even when testing with Tokamak demos?

Many thanks this is very precious information for me!

cheers

I also got one with build date 0603 a few days ago. First of all the windows installation was terrible with all the buggy programs installed, it would hang at boot quite often. The screen is the samsung with grey lines and a little dark corners, it also ripple quite easily. The biggest problem though is that I sometimes get the blue screen of death when windows has booted. This I can not live with and I will dig deeper into the problem. I have installed a "clean" version of windows xp, and the drivers needed later, but still got the blue screen. I will diagnose the memory to see if that's the problem, or if it is a driver issue. If I get my issues fixed it will be a great machine, VERY fast and responsive.

Does it mean - no buzzing?????

also, where did you order your 0603 from
I bought it from a shop in Finland, where I live. It's the "better" version with 2GB RAM. I haven't noticed any buzzing, it should come from the speakers or headphones, right? I tested with headphones on a high volume running the catalyst test with a car running along a road, no buzzing noticed.

The buzzing is not related to the speakers. There is a hardware component that is making the noise. It usually come from the right side of the laptop.

Try running these demos

I tested the demos, but couldn't hear anything, moved my right ear all over the laptop. If there is any buzzing, it can't be loud.
I forgot to mention you need to make sure you are running off the powersupply. If there is no noise, then that's great.
I was using the power supply when running the demos.

anyone else want to mention the place where they purchased the 0603 model from a site in the United states.

Yes, I would like to know as well. Any USA online shops selling the newest build model?

I have had my 06/03 build for a couple of weeks now. I have no buzzing whatsever. The LCD screen is fine as well. The only thing I've been able to replicate from these boards is if I move the lid too quicklyI can see ripples in the LCD screen, but since I don't do that while I'm working it really is a non-issue.

I purchaesd mine from ZipZoomFly, it was not the best experience as they were on back order for three weeks after they told me it shipped, however the end result was waiting for a laptop that didn't have all theissues that others here were seeing.

First post so here goes. Just got my 8204 last week (06/03) build. Had to return two 8104 before I squeezed them for the 8204 (and paid the balance!). Not that happy with the display either - seems worse than the 8104 and more like my previous 800 series model. Still, it runs like the wind and looks good. After this I'm going to look at Dell - too many problems with Acer (had to reinstall everything three times recently). Still, Acer is the only company to package this much power in a small form. Hanging in there but hey, it's too much like work.

Oh, do you experience any buzzing sound?? If not, here we go, this may be the batch were were waiting for - 06/03!!!!

Sorry no upside for 06/03

Have 06/03 and there isn't any buzzing - well not unless you run these physics modelling software mentioned elsewhere. Even then it isn't as bad as my older tm804 gives when on battery. Could be the screen invertor. As for the display in general - been following all posts here on dim screen and only a little better than my old 804. As for the gray lines, I think I see them but honestly they aren't worth talking about (at least for me with this laptop).
