Ok I have a Sony Vaio VGN-A790. I got it last august and been gaming on it for a while (I play games such as Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst, Battlefield 2, Diablo II, Doom 3, and F.E.A.R.) I had the settings on low for most games and they ran fine. Up until about 2 weeks ago I started getting extreme slowdown and choppyness in my games (unbearable to play the game). It lasts for about 25-30 seconds then stop for about a minute then kicks right back in again for another 25-30 seconds. I downloaded updated drivers for the video card and any other update I could find. I then came to the conclusion that heat was my problem so I went out and bought this laptop cooler here: http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=75004
I downloaded SpeedFan 4.28 (latest one) and it only gives me a temp readout of my HD0 and then an undefined Temp1. I don't know what Temp1 is but I know it's either the video card or CPU. My HD0 usually runs between 35-40C and the Temp1 is at around 94-98C. Now I know 94-98C is extremely hot and this is with the Antec Notebook Cooler which I purchased. I know it is a heat related problem with a Temp1 readout of 94-98C. I am stumped as to how I can get this laptop to cool down to a reasonable temp. The weird thing is the games ran fine and I got no choppyness but then all of a sudden it happened. I don't believe the fans are broken because I can hear them running and I don't believe there's a dust buildup either. I just want to know if there's anyway to get this laptop to run at a cooler temp. Any help is appreciated thanks in advance!
