Samsung > LG!!!

My Samsung LCD panel died recently, and I received an LG replacement from Dell.

I HATE IT!!!!!

My Samsung had a bit of a light leakage, but colors and contrast were so much better (and LG is much darker in my opinion).

I called Dell and asked if it was possible to replace it with Samsung. Unfortunately they cant guarantee that you will receive Samsung, but did send me another LCD.

Guess what.. ANOTHER LG!!!

I WANT MY SAMSUNG BACK!!!

Is this the WUXGA or the WXGA panel?

I have not seen one of the LG screens, but I am plenty happy with my samsung. A bit of leakage, but not bad.

WUXGA.

LP171WU1 - this is the model number.

The colors are very saturated, but blue domintaes, and whites are HORRIBLE on it (feels like the contrast is set to high)

Your color temp is probably 9300k. You just need to somehow change it to 6500k and you should be ok.

I have an LG screen and I think it's a bit too dark. Plus light tones are very difficult to distinguish.

Reflux, whites are horrible on this particular model of LG. I actually get dizzy after 2 hors of reading text on this screen. NEVER happened wit me on my old Samsung.

To previous poster. Download powerstrip and it will tell you what screen you are using.

I'm pretty happy with my LG WUXGA, I wouldn't know what to complain about. I had a Samsung WUXGA on my old 9100 and that one was pretty nice too. If you search the forums you'll see that theres just as much people complaining about Samsungs as about LG's. It's all personal taste and even more than that it's geekness. I bet half of the people complaining couldn't tell the difference unless they take the damn thing apart. As soon as they know what brand it is they start complaining

And why do you want your Samsung back anyway ? It died, so much for the quality.

I get quite a bit of light leakage on my samsung, but it's got amazing colour quality. I loves it! Good luck trying to get another one bro.

I have the same issue with light leakage on my Samsung - but I'm not looking at a black screen very often, and it's otherwise unnoticed.

The color quality is truly amazing, and I have no sparkles whatsoever. Using the XtremeG drivers and the vibrance setting made a world of difference also.

I have an LG that originated from an M170, but I'm coming from WXGA to WUXGA so I'm happy with it, even with the moderate Light Leakage, which you can see during an all black Screensaver, but I think it's shrinking over a greater period of time.

i have the lg wc222, which is the best lg, and i like it.

Funny stuff. I can remember months ago when people were frantically trying to do anything possible to get a LG screen instead of the Samsungs, claiming that the colors and contrasts were better with the LG's and that light leakage was much worse with the Samsungs... This is the first time I've heard someone claiming the Samsung was "brighter" than the LG. Usually it's the other way around.

Anyway, try to get Dell to switch it if it's bothering you that badly, otherwise just try to enjoy the screen. I happen to love the LG's.
