8204 Blue Screen of Death

Hi,

I got my 8204 a few days ago, been having trouble with the blue screen of death about every third time I boot the computer, it seem to always happen when windows has finished loading. I installed a clean copy of windows xp and left out most of the acer bullshit but still got the problem. Anybody with a similar problem or fix? Thanks!

I can only think that you have a hardware issue, maybe bad RAM. I would recommend returning it for another unit. Getting the BSOD right out of the box is just a sign of bad things.

BSOD caused by ACER ePOWER application...

I've been getting the BSOD as well, but I believe that I have my issue narrowed down to the ACER ePOWER application. Anytime it was in the process of loading during boot-up I'd get a STOP 0x93 error. First I followed the typical route of replacing the std video driver with the Omega driver, thinking it was the graphics driver. No go...still BS'd with STOP 0x93. Then I paid more attention to what was happening and discovered the issue with the ePOWER app. Not only did my lappy BS while booting up, but even after boot, when I'd click on the sys tray icon, select items to turn-off, hit APPLY, it's screen then.
Anyone know if we can get the new version of the ePOWER app? I've been trying but the webpage keeps timing out.

TIA.

That could sure be it, ePower is one of the few acer apps I installed after the format, so it could still be causing the bluescreens.

I know now that it's not the ePowermanager that's making the bluescreens, even if it uninstalled I get them. There is something wrong with the memory or other related components, I ran GoldMemory diagnostics and it reported errors, so I'm going to return it and get a new machine.

How many RAM sticks have you got in the machine? If 2, then try removing one and powering it on and blah blah blah. You know the rest lol.
