RIght Mouse button

Hi all,

Well,
My M6809 is still chugging along nicely. Something that has been happening for a few weeks however is bugging me a bit. The right mouse button seems to be intermitant. That is, I have can get it to work for me but I have to press it very hard (mostly towards the left side of the right button) to get it to work. Now SOMETIMES it will work with the light touch that is used to take (the left button still works this way.)

Does anyone have any suggestions? I dont really want to send my computer in to get it fixed. Can I examine it myself easily? Or maybe use some high pressure air to "clean underneath the button maybe?

Thanks,

Hyestar

You mean with ur TouchPad, right?
I have the same issue with my 6805, I believe that this is a quirky defect from eMachines. Just live with it, short from replacing it

My suggestion is to get an external mouse. Personally I hate touchpads with a passion, I can't stand them! I use an MX510 mouse with Mouseware (MX510 driver software) and LogiGamer (lets you program the buttons per-application). It doesn't weigh anything and is easy to carry around with the laptop when you take it on the go. Just avoid the MX518, the software stinks!

What the hell is that thing on the right of your mousepad (the thing with the arrow up and down) supposed to do anyway!?!?!?!

I had a m675XL, which had the roller wheel, which I was fine with, but I can't get this thing to do ANYTHING! I have tried to find something in the online manual about it but I can't find squat. BTW...I have the nx860XL.

It is a scroll area, but I think the driver has it disabled by default (synaptics on that machine?) I personally prefer the way the touchpad/scroll area acts best on the synaptics pads just using the generic windows driver. The synaptics driver has a few little quirks that drive me batty.

By the way, in reference to the original topic, my right button has been that way since it was about 15 months old. It almost feels like something is about to break when I press it sometimes (accompanied by a loud click), and works fine at other times. It drove me crazy at first, but it has either gotten better, or I have gotten used to it. I haven't been inside since it started happening to see if I could see a mechanical problem.

Are you posting the driver because you think it may fix the right button issue? I think it may be hardware related. I tried to get the right mouse button to "pop" off today but was unsuccusful. Interestingly enough however after "fiddling" with it (sometimes with a bit too much force ) It seems to be working much better than before?! I dont know what gives, but I still would like to get the right mouse button off, to examine what is under it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

It may stay bettter. After pressing my pretty hard for a while, it seemed to almost fix itself. I haven't been inside mine that far since it happened to mine, but I am pretty sure it will have to removed form the bottom.
