This is exciting!

yikes... that 160GB drive is only 4200 RPM
post #7 of 31
interestingly if you check the PDF HDD notes then you will see that the very large 160 gig HDD is a slug... its a 4200rpm model...

it also only comes with a T2400? why?

what is up with only offering the WXGA @ 1440x900?

I find it very good though that they are offering BOTH the PCMCIA and the ExpressCard slots.. that is cool.

Gigabit ethernet onboard!!!! WOOHOO!!!!

slimline remote too...

nice touches but the screen res is a killer for me.. I want the WUXGA..

maybe i just did not look hard enough and the options for upgrades are there, but I am still thinking that the E1705 is a better deal, for me that is.. everyone needs to make up the own mind ey.

Did you see the link I posted above? It has 3dmark06 scores for each of the cards. The 7800GTX is faster than the 7900GS, but the 7900 GTX is faster than the 7800 GTX. This begs the question: Can we get a 7900GTX into the 9400?

If it is a 17 inch with 7900 go GTX in SLI it will be a screaming mofo....

Toshiba seems to like putting slow hard drives in their laptops. 4200's even more ancient than 5400.

If
SLI 7900 GTX (not GS)
17"
Core Duo upgradeable to Merom
4gb memory
duallink DVI out - so we can drive that nice 30" lcd when we're home!

(crazy but could Dell finally just use the straight drivers from Nvidia without the whole .inf thing?)

If they can manage this I was going to wait for G80, but probably I'll cave in, buy the thing and sit there praying they make the G80 an upgrade option in 6 months

SLI plus Merom would be - well droolworthy

I dont believe we are gonna see SLI in new XPS But I hope for the best

That Toshiba is a nice package but the WXGA+ screen and the 4200 rpm drive for me is a deal breaker. I doubt the new XPS will be SLI. Lots of interesting things in the next 2-3 months....can't wait to get a new lappy but I need to be patient

poor people with the X1400? meh, we just get more upgrade options when the 7900 is released!
