Atheros Card

Thread Starter
Hi,
I'm look for an Atheros AR5006XS from a forum member. I don't want to do the group buy because it is going to take 1 to 2 weeks. Anyone have one for sale? Is this the best wireless card available as of now? drop me a pm or post.

Uh, that doesn't make any sense. The best price on eBay IS from the group buy guy. And the card would still ship from Hong Kong so it would take just as long I reckon.

If you can live with just b/g and Super G, try the Gigabyte GN-WIAG02 card for $21

The GN-WIAG02 uses the Atheros AR5005GS chipset. It's like the AR5006XS without the 'a' band as I understand it.

I bought 2 from that site and might be ordering 2 more. Highly recommended.

Question:

Is it easy to install? Can I install it on my Precision M70?

don't know how your laptop is but my 9300 has a cover on the bottom. Just use a screwdriver to remove a small screw and snap in the minipci card. Then replace the cover and screw. Shouldn't take you more than 2 minutes (in my case)

Then do I have to do anything after I installed it like installing the driver and deleting the old driver?

Any conflict in the system?

if your prior driver supports the card, you don't need to do anything. If you don't have a driver yet, I suggest to go directly to gigabyte site and download their latest driver. I have absolutely no system conflict but great wireless results. Pick up signals that my intel minipci wouldn't.

BTW, we shouldn't thread crap on his for sale thread. If you have further questions, pm me.

Free bump anyway
