I do not see where people got banned for being a member of other forums. If that was a truth we would all be banned. I see and understand what Craig is saying. I know what the rules here on NBF are. I feel sorry for Craig that he has to be the bad guy and let people go for violating those rules. I know Craig and he would Adios me or anyone else for the same infractions. This is how a good moderator does his job. No favoritism. Everyone gets the same treatment. For years people have come here and gotten help, been able to rant and even speak to Alienware staff about issues they have. For years people have made lasting friendships and we have had some good times. I understand that Alienware has been aquired by Dell and that in itself is cause for some uncomfortable moments. Ya it sucks but venting the frustration on other people here and moderators for doing their jobs is wrong.
Understand that the rules you agree too when you sign up for NBF are pretty clear. So if we are going to play the blame game atleast point the fingers in the right direction.

Notebookforums, a place to discuss "notebooks". Come on guys grow up, this is getting ridiculous. Its pretty sad, craig had to regulate on these guys. Dont we have an age limit here?

People need to get over the Dell, alienware problem. Wow people its only a company. Its not the end of the world. At first it was scary to know, but now its old news. They have told us the name, and products they offer wont change. Alright, get over it. I saw no one yelling when IBM and lenovo merged. Come on guys, grow up, discuss notebooks, have fun laughing at DB.

good god, I just read through all those posts. I have to say that I'm in a bit of shock and completely sadden by the recent events.

and to think this was all caused by the simple buyout of a company, although i'm sure things could have been handled differently, the decisions made are final...

therefore

rules are rules, yet we bend them in someways but we all abide by them

Still, nobody has answered my question.

Should I expect my lifespan here at NBF to be short because I feel it OK to bring my knowledge and help to another forum?

Why does what I say on a seperate forum have anything to do with my welcome here?

Yang? Craig? anyone?

All I have to say is WOW!!!??

Kinda sucks, cuz most of the people involved on either side are all the ones I used to play CS:S with all the time. I've had my own real life issues that I've been dealing with for a while so I haven't played much in the last 6 months.

POOP

PS Hope everything comes out okay HH

I'm wondering if some folks are taking theirselves entirely too seriously. This is supposed to be fun after all.

Many of you had no idea what you were signing up for over there or the situation going on here and we hold no ill will over anyone who would like to take part in said community. We do not take sides and will never tell you where you should visit on the internet. We wish you a good experience from many different places/sites on the internet that may be of interest to you. We won't tell you where to go and what to read.

I don't see why your lifespan here @ nbf would be effected by your participation in another forum.

if you have more questions, please read the forum rules here

Damn it guys, I had to skip class just to read this thread...
okay guys...

Firstly i think i should thank everyone who has posted in this thread is the very professional and responsible manner that i have seen in the posts since i last read it.

@hammer: my best wishes go out to you in regards to your medical situation. hopefully it will be resolved without trouble and all tests will show up for the positive.

I to do truely wish for a return to simply a few weeks ago in regards to the membership status of several members as well as the general feeling in the AW section. It truely is sad that the purchase of one company by another has caused so much animosity amongst what has been and i believe would have remained such a solid group of friends. Yes i do concider many of the people i have met here my friends, and my membership on these forums has impacted my real life greatly, including having a great bearing on my current employment, as i got my job as a direct result of membership here in addition to many other things.

While i find it sad to see some of my friends are not going to be back i do realize that it is for a reason. Red has been a great contributor to these forums and i remain with the utmost respect for him, he did however break the rules. As a student of political science i know that rules mean nothing if not enforced, and that enforcement of rules sadly needs to be universal no matter how much we care for the people involved. In regards to some of the other bannings, i am sad to see those members go. We have mods who have been entrusted not only by PCT as the owners of this site, but by us all to help guide these forums and protect us (both our personal privacy and from trolls who wish to subvert these forums), much as we have a government in our real lives.

While we may not agree or even like the decisions that are made by that government we should respect that those in charge are there for a reason, and that there are often reasons and causes behind the decisions made that are not appearant to the rest of us. It is from talking to craig and gaming with him as well as the other mods on these boards whenever i have interacted with them that i know that the decisions they make, especially in the issue of a ban (permanent or otherwise) are the result of careful thought and i would believe not made i anger or the heat of the moment. It truely is a shame that craig or any mod has to be the "bad guy" here, as they do work very hard on top of their real lives and outside commitments for us all.

I am sad to see the AW community as fractured as it has become over this past while in regards to the goings on. This is a place where i, and i believe many of the others come to enjoy ourselves and relax while still learning about subjects we enjoy. Where we can discuss things both personal and technological and generally have a good time. This is how i have always treated these forums and how i believe they should be.

It is because of the deep divides that i have seen recently as well as the frustration and heated words that i know have been exchanged that i would implore all those in these boards to take the time and just relax and cool off. The loss of some of our friends as members is an issue that has a great impact and bearing on us all and while we are certainly emotional about it those strong often heated emotions are what is causing the problems here as of late and only leading to more trouble.

So although i am not a mod, and have little or no real power here over what is done or how others choose to handle themselves i hope that we all sit down and can remain strong as friends; bringing this section of the forums back to what it once was.

thanks for reading my thoughts, and i hope that we can move forward as a stronger and better community beyond these issues.

And Hammer, I know we are not friends or even on talking terms, but I really echo everyones' hopes you get a clear bill of health. And I really think the AW NBF forums needs YOU as a mod if this whole flippen cluster fook is ever gonna be rectified (I like Craig alot but he is too involved and had his toes stepped on besides feeling like he was betrayed). Granted, my opinion does not count for shiat here, but NBF really needs to evaluate what they can do to stop the civil war here and facilitate healing the wounds. I am not saying Craig should not be mod because he should of course. They do need some fresh blood to help out.

Isn't it time to lock this thread, if not delete it? People have had their say (some quite eloquently)-more discussion on this issue is only going to further divide the group. Let's give it a rest and not be the laughing stock of the rest of NBF.

I love these forums all too much to go absolutely anywhere. as I remember correctly I came to these forums to ask about the Aurora m7700 and my questions were answered promptly and friendily. I began reading the forums even before I joined but what really brought me here was the people. and I would just like to give a shoutout to all the friends I made here:
Shazza, Hammerhead, Yang, Nebulous, and DB. I love you guys and you are my heros on these forums thanks. and Craig, I feel your stress. props to all my homies at NBF be all you can be!

Thanks DB, and as far as I'm concerned everything that's gone on is water under the bridge. I did get pretty harsh with you there, but it wasn't meant to be personal. You're obviously loved here.

Yikes!

Ugly stuff to be sure. Hopefully we can put all this past us and get back to better things, like asking when AW is going to give us a Core Duo lappy.
