People who ordered things on ebay with a credit card through paypal, question.

Ok so i won an auction for a 3007 WFP and when I went to pay it in paypal and chose more options (it is unacceptable to go through my bank account) it has credit card blocked out, it says this:

"Some payment methods are not available for this transaction.

• Credit Card - This payment cannot be funded with a credit card.

This payment can only be funded with Instant Transfer or eCheck. Learn More"

Anyone ever seen this before?
Since when is credit card not an instant transfer????
when i click learn more it says:

"Funding Options

PayPal is constantly working to protect our members against fraud. We review every transaction before it is approved, and we may block a payment when we detect a potential risk.

Our reviews take into account every aspect of a transaction, including looking at both parties. These decisions help us maintain the integrity of our payments network in the same way as other payment processors: by declining transactions with an unacceptable level of risk.

While our fraud measures occasionally block a legitimate payment, to maintain overall security, we cannot overturn any decisions about an individual transaction.

If you decide to continue this transaction using a different funding source, please note that the associated risk levels have not been decreased."

so whats the deal? The guy has good feedback and sells a lot of dell computers/LCD's

here is the list of feedback: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...iid=8785790895

seems totally legit, what do you guys think?

I would contact Paypal about the problem. Nothing we can do.

That happened when I purchased my 9300. I thought nothing of it at the time since my credit card is actually a debit card linked to the same checking account. I'm thinking with big ticket purchases, they don't want to risk the buyer doing a chargeback if things go wrong with the transaction, thus leaving Paypal to fit the bill.

So you ended up just doing a bank transfer? The thing that is weird is when I try to send $1600 to my dad via my credit card it doesnt bitch about the amount, so I would think it isnt the ammount but something else, ebay?

Some sellers won't allow payment via credit card because of the added fees.

https://www.paypal.com/us/update-policy

"...Use of PayPal on eBay
Notice Date: July 14, 2005
Effective Date: August 19, 2005
Beginning August 19, 2005, if you sell on eBay and offer PayPal, your PayPal account must accept all forms of payment including payments made via credit card, regardless of whether you display the PayPal logo with credit card icons. You must have a Premier or Business PayPal Account or be willing to upgrade from a Personal PayPal Account to a Premier or Business Account if you receive a credit card payment. You may not communicate to eBay buyers (e.g. via your eBay item description) that you only accept, or will not accept, specific forms of PayPal payment."

I don't know what is up then, his account is listed as: Verified Business Member (101)

From the sounds of things, it looks like paypal itself is denying a credit card, not the guy Iam trying to send money too, it will let me use a credit card when I just try to send money to him for goods, but if I put ebay auction then it wont, weird eh?

here is a screenshot, seems weird, Since it seems like its a completely legit auction I am thinking of just using my bank account which I really did not want to do, not to mention I have to get paid a little early from my boss.

Because most people who buy laptops on ebay that would be expensive enough to see this error are only going to be the 9300/XPS gen 2, I have the XPS gen 2 and I plan to use this display with my XPS gen 2. I guess it didnt HAVE to be in this forum, however this is a more active forum and I had a time constraint so I wanted to get some oppinions on this ASAP

I appreciate all the reply's, thanks.

if you really didnt want to spend your money in your bank account, you couldve just told the bank u go to to take money off your credit-card and transfer it into your account, then did a banktransfer.

Confirm your bank account and you will be fine. Checking or savings will work for echecks ONLY if it is confirmed.

I wouldn't reccomend a bank transfer unless its a high volume seller because paypal is a bunch of misleading ass holes and they DONT protect you. The only safe way is with your credit company (paypal tryed screwing me out 400$ until my credit company got involved).

what's done is done, and the guy is a pretty high volume seller, more than 3 computers/lcd's a month.
