The 4Gb on the M90 is hideously expensive!

Something like +6500 Euro for increasing from 1Gb -> 4Gb. See www.dell.fr

Edit: 6500 not 7700

Probably they don't have 2G DIMMs at the moment, or have a very limited amount of them. Maybe it's targeted at high-level executives who don't care about such amounts of money - just an occasion for Dell to make a few bucks from latest-and-greatest lovers.

So since the M90 has a dual core processor and same fancy schmancy graphics powerhouse a dual core xps might not be far behind.

i'd bet the new XPS will be the same build as the m90. Any benchmarks on the quadro yet?

Yep. Put the M90 in the XPS lighted, flashy case and you have the new XPS.

Good, amazingly powerful and only $3500ish for a 2GB RAM Quadro 2500M 512MB config. That is really cheap for a precision workstation product.

Bad, looks to only have an express card slot (grrr I want my Audigy2 ZS), and for some reason the specs offer modem = none or permantly disabled!? WTH. I rarely use a modem, but when I need one, I really need one, and using my cell phone as an analog modem is a pain.

Also, no mention of an internal G3 wireless internet card for the M90.

Ordered my M90 this morning. Loaded to the gills, with the exception of RAM(which I always get from a third-party source, for obvious reasons). Came to $3300 even after instant $300 discount, before tax/shipping. Unfortunately, the projected ship date I got from the order confirmation is May 8th -- let's hope they find a way to get it out the door faster than that.

My last Precision machine was the M50, and I loved it. Currently using an XPS G2, and looking forward to toting something that looks a little more professional. =)

The small text above that option says that it comes with a modem, and this is just an option to chose to permanently disable it, or leave it be (none). It's worded weird, but there is a modem if you don't select the diable option.

The M90 seems to serve everything I have been looking for. Ive been waiting since september to order a laptop and think this may be the one. I will only be using it for my clothing designs within photoshop and online games, watching and burning dvds, music.
Would it be overkill to own this machine when I wouldnt even use it for 3D rendering? Not sure I can wait for the new xps, my work needs a lappy yesterday.

I think it would be a good purchase, but you should not be too excited about the graphics performance. The quadro can play games, but not as good as a geforce 6800, 7800 or 7900. See the link I posted above.

thats a totally different card, based on the geforce FX I believe.
I think this latest is similair to the 7900.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_11761.html Compare the performnace, double in the case of texels.
