New lattitudes are out! Quadro FX 2500M, 512MB gfx card WOW. Benchmarks would be nice, how much does this beast weigh.
The M90 appears to have the first 7900GTX I've seen in a laptop. Other than that it appears to be a standard M170/E1705 17" chassis. That means around 8lbs + power brick weight.

It does appear to support the docking solutions Dell provides which I don't think the existing XPS/Inspiron models do.

The website offers two LCD panels, 1920 and 1680, but does not mention if they are glossy or matte.

Priced out on dell Website its $4200 loaded. Not bad pricing compared to an XPS M170. There is a 4GB memory option for $2500 more.

fwiw, according to pcmag, the lattitude 820 with the quadro nvs 120M card scores 1900 on 3dmark05.

Well, none of the new lats comes with anything but intel 950 right now... I'll wait until reviews/tests come out with a real graphics card before even considering them.

Same here....I don't see the 7900gtx as an option.

i need a benchmark of that quadro fx2500 !!!! is better or worse than the 7800 or 7800GTX???
Um. We don't know, since it isnt out yet.
However, reading around the websites it seems to have slightly better performance than a 7800GTX- this is judgin from memory speed, size and textrure/vertex fill.

Don't quote me on that, mind.

FX2500 is essentially a 7900GTX card with 512MB of Vram.

What? Where? Please tell me where it says that. The lack of a real docking solution (a USB port replicator does not count) is the ONLY thing that has prevented me from picking up an XPS2, so if the M90 supports it, it may very well be the laptop I've been waiting for.

Havent seen Benchmarks but know they dont perform as well in games.

your talking about a 5% delta if you mean the difference between a Quadro and a Geforce card equally clocked. In most cases manufacturers lower the clock freq on Quadro ver of the cards enough to only meet specifications which is a prime example of the Quadro on the M70 vs the 6800Ultras that were out at the time because the 6800s were obviously higher clocked thus performing better.

Quadro 2500M is a 7900GTX/GS just like the Quadro 1400 was a normal 6800. The only difference is the features enabled in the firmware and driver (line AA, etc) and OpenGL drivers certified with the 3d app vendors.

The M90 looks like the new XPS 17" laptop to me. Notice they support 2GB dimms, ready to 64bit.

Beg to differ

The Quadro go1400 in my M70 does just fine for games and runs perfectly with all of the modded "mobile" geforce drivers packages out there. I use the current xtreme-G 84.25s on it with zero problems.

Edler Scrolls IV: Oblivion runs like a champ on my M70 (84.25, 325Mhz GPU 650Mhz Mem)

16-19fps outside
32-43fps inside
14fps minimum, 63fps maximum
1280x1024 HDR, max terrain, trees, buildings

From fraps. That compares pretty well with the 7800s and 6800s in the consumer Dells.

I am seriously lusting after the M90, if only it was a 15.4" form factor.

Wow. Anyone notice the 4GB of RAM on 2 DIMMs or 2GB on 1 DIMM? That seems kinda cool.
any link to the m90?

So if my job is buying me a laptop.....this one would be great?

question...if quadro is just a lowerclocked version of GTX can't u just overclock it back?

if some features are just "locked" can you just unlock them?

Check out this chart. It apears that the new 2500m is even faster than the FX 4500
