Ram issue

Thread Starter
So first I had a 5150 which blew up in my face numerous times, then a 6000 which was fine and I had for about 4 months, and now Dell sends me a 6400. Now my problem is with the ram. I bought it for the 6000 in January from Crucial, and it doesnt work on the 6400
So how do i go about dealing with this with dell? I talked to customer care but they are complete tools, and they told me that it is my problem because they do not make 6000's anymore. But I said that I do not want a 6400, I simply wanted an exchange, and now my ram is totally useless.
And i am not looking to sell it on e-bay, or exchange it just of yet, so none of those ideas.
Thanks in advance

the 6400 is a much better deal here because of all the toruble your going to have to deal with my advice is keep the 6400 send back the 6000 and sell the ram that was for the 6000 to get ram for the 6400.

From Dells perspective they did there part because you did not purchase the extra ram from them its not really there problem so although you feel you got screwed Dell did uphold there part of the bargain relating to fixing your system by giving you an even better one.

^^^ Agreed, Dell have done everything right. They cannot replace your system with the same if they no longer have it... unless they take one from the outlet which you may not be happy about. And as Machina said, you should just take the i6400 anyway as it is a better machine, cut your losses on the RAM and sell it for some new RAM for the i6400.
