e1705, USB drivers for Windows XP

I just reloaded my new e1705 system and installed the intel chipset package. Now when I go to device manager it shows all the USB devices with exclamation points next to them. When I double click on one of them, it says that windows cannot load this device driver and that it may be corrupt or missing. Any ideas anyone?

make sure you have installed the right intel chipset package that came from cd or from dell.com, if that's done hmm it is weird really nothing comes to me

oh here's something
try to make those usb devices uninstall or disable, restart the computer then start windows should say 'new hardware found' and install them

That's not true. In order for USB to work, all you have to do is install WinXP and the Intel chipset driver.

uninstalling the non working devices and resetting worked. Thanks for the help.

right but the NSS needs to be installed on the 6000, so i figured same true for 1705/1505.

bottom line, if the NSS "IS" on the dell site for downloads on the 1705, it should be put on.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 I purchased in September of 2005 and I didn't "need" to have NSS installed. On the first day I got this notebook, I reformatted and deleted all the Dell partitions and installed fresh.

Why does your Inspiron 6000 need NSS? I'm just curious, does something not work if you don't have NSS installed?
