9300 Video Card Interface, PCIe 8x or PCIe 16x?

Hey guys..

I just recently installed a 7800GTX in my 9300 and man, I so love it. The scores on 3DMark05 beat my 3.2GHz P4 with a 7800GS AGP card in it.

Then I wondered.. Since this thing is so fast, and it is PCI Express, is it an 8x or 16x interface to the video card?

PCI express is 16x.

The GF7800GTX uses 16lanes, so it's PCI express 16X

I think only AGP is 8x (I've heard of AGP 8x quite often in older generation cards).

Actually, PCIe can be anything from 1x to 16x. SLI used to fit two 16x video cards (running at 8x) on one 16x lane. The cards don't really lose much running at 8x, so SLI gave a boost. Then, people started putting two 16x lanes on a motherboard to run two video cards at 16x. So, people stuck 4 cards in (like the dell renegade xps)
