Hey everybody, if anyone remembers a while ago I was pretty much defending alienware's customer service when a lot of people were complaining about it. Well, I am not upset with their customer service, but here is what happened. I have been carrying around my laptop around school in my backpack (designed for a laptop) a lot. The power brick is starting to break. The chord attached to the brick has began to seperate itself from the brick. So, I figured that something like this would be covered under my 3 year warrenty that I paid close to $300 for. Well, I gave alienware a call and they guy on the other end of the line told me that it is breaking due to my miss using it. Also that since they don't make my specific model anymore they actually stopped carrying parts like that for it! That is kind of annoying, I pay for a warrenty expecting to be covered is something like this does happen and also expecting them to carry the parts for my machine to be able to cover me for 3 years and I get this? So, the guy directed me to a web site where I can get a new power brick and it is going to cost me $100 to get a new one! That is kind of rediculous. I called back in January and I still haven't gotten a new one yet because I am not going to pay $100 for something that is supposed to be covered under a $300 warrenty that I have already paid for. If anything, Alienware should reimburse me for buying that since they don't even carry the part anymore. I am going to give them a call again sometime soon as soon as I get a chance. I just don't have time to sit down and "discuss" this issue with a tech over the phone. I have way to much work to do for school. If any of the alienware support people that do read this want to offer me a solution I would be more than happy to hear it. Right now I have the wire attached with electrical tape (and it isn't working all that great). Just wanted to vent that out. I am not angry at Alienware, they still have some of the best customer service that I have ever experienced, second only to IBM's. Still, I just hope that that does not go down the tubes now that Dell has taken over. I hope that nothing changes for Alienware. If the customer service goes to Dell then it is hopeless, becuase the only way that Dell will ever help anyone is if you have already spent all your money on their systems, then they might consider helping you. After of course they bounce you around India for several hours trying to speak to people who don't even speak a little bit of english. So, yeah, that is my little rant. I hope a Alienware support person reads this and can help me out. Thanks.
