Well now AW does have HT P4 processers.... ABout 5 weeks ago when I ordered mine they didnt offer HT... All of these damn changes are making me really pissed
post #2 of 12
They have always had it, it's not something that AW can turn on and off. The SIS chipset coupled with the latest HT enabled P4 chips have always had it.

can't blame technology for advancing, blame alienware for their policy changes -- that's what irks me..

I think they just change their web site incorrectly. I mean they could not just drop HT technology from their hardware, then put it back the next day.

It's like when they claimed the entire case was magnesium!

You can find out by going to the performance tab under windows task manager. If under CPU usage history two displays are shown, hyper threading is enabled.

I believe hyper threading has been enabled in the Area 51m since they went from the 533 MHz FSB to the 800 MHz FSB.

If you have the new Area 51m, you should have HT enabled automatically. I ordered mine back in September and mine definitely has HT enabled.

How do you check under XP Pro? Call me stupid but where is task manager? Under Adminstrator tools-performance I have one diagram but under device manager processors I have 2 P4 3.2 GHz listed...what's the deal??? Thanks in advance!

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, then go to the Performance Tab.
If you see two graphs at the top then you have Hyper Threading enabled.

I have 2 graphs under cpu usage history side by side...I guess this means I have it...Thanks a bunch! Guess I shouldn't have posted in the AW moderated forums a question that my AW fam here can answer in a jiffy!
