msgina.dll file needed

Somehow.. dell updates the msgina.dll file for a windows xp mce so that the shutdown menu displays four options " shut down -- stand by -- restart", and the big one, hibernate.

When you blow away the install, and reload using the dell os cd, they give you the 'standard' dll version, which drops the hibernate option.

This fix is detailed here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893056/en-us

Yes.. I know about the control panel / power options to enable hibernate.
Yes.. I know that I can hit 'SHIFT' and have it pop up.
Yes.. I know I can do FN-F1 to hibernate.

What I would like is for someone having a msgina.dll file version 5.1.2600.2603 (NOT .2180!!) that provides the 4th hibernate option to send it to me ?

Can you send me a pm or email it ? I will make you a millionare..... in karma.

Why not just assign the main power button as the hibernation button?

I've got a shortcut to hibernate on my desktop. I like the 1-click option.

the main power button works very welll as a shutdown button... shortcuts are fine... but *windows comes configured with a hibernate button*

its an oversight that its not on by default... this is a patch that will appear in service pack 3 ... dell happens to have it sooner.. why not want the proper way to work?

I got the file from another person with a dell laptop ... and it works perfectly.

Because it takes more than 1-click. Anyway, glad that you got it working TheProperWay™.

Yeah I still lack understanding the whole wanting the button ther ebecause its one extra step. Hibernation is really just for people who dont have to time to deal with shutting down the system properly and waiting for the system to come up afte rnormal booting process.
