Light leakage, anybody pls help out!!!!

Hi Guys,
I have just bought a new XPS m140 notebook. I would
say this is my first notebook so I am not good at spoting light leakage.

OK, I notice the LCD...I mean it seems to me that there is some light leakage at the bottom. Can u guys look at my attached pic and see if there is any problem??? I have already set it to the lowest resolution and I still get some light at the bottom.

I checked the manufacturer of the LCD under the monitor information and it says LPL0000, I MEAN WHAT IS THAT? Guys, I need ur advice now! Do I demand a new LCD screen? And do all good LCDs look like mine?

Thank you so much for helping a newbie! appreciate that!

It's really up to you. It's a matter of personal opinion.

Looking at the pic, it looks relatively minimal to me. (It's difficult to tell with pics, of course.) I easily have more light leakage on my laptop than yours and I really don't notice it.

Resolution doesn't affect how much light leakage there is on an LCD. It's a physical "defect". I wrote a relatively long-ish post about how LCDs work if you're interested. (If I can find the link, I'll add it.)

I messed around on my laptop for a few days to see how much it would affect me. I really didn't notice it except in very specific cases, which was watching already-dark movies at night with the lights off. Even then, the light leakage didn't distract me, so I opted to keep it. (My LCD has zero dead pixels, which is something I'm more fanatic about.)

If it looks like it bothers you during regular operations, then by all means return it. However, there's no guarantee that the next screen will have less light leakage. From what I've seen, and this is only casual observation, most LCDs have some sort of light leakage.

In short, I firmly believe you should be happy with your laptop. If this is a problem, then you definitely have a right to fix it.
