TM 8204 webcam problem

Hi. I had some problems with Acer Orbicam since the beginning. Sometimes picture was freezing after couple of seconds (or minutes) and when I closed the software camera didn't seem to turn off (LED was green for a minute or so, and I couldn't reconnect - I had the message that the other program is still using the camera). Sometimes I had a message that camera is disconnected and I couldn't start it at all. Finally (since yesterday), that's the only message that I have - I rebooted couple of times with no effect. I'm gonna reinstall the driver tonight, but I'm not sure if it's going to resolve the problem, because it seems like system cannot "see" the camera at all. Any ideas?

Try to uninstall everything with the camera, reboot and afterwards, download the newest drivers from the acer website, and install ONLY the drivers, not the acer apps. (You will get this question when installing).

I did so couple of times, I cleaned the registry also, just to be 100% sure that my reinstallation is completely clean. Webcam is recognized now but it is still not working properly. I can test it with Skype, but if I even try to use it with another software, Skype will not recognize webcam anymore. If I start with another software (even if I doubleclick it in My Computer), I usually cannot use it with Skype! Sometimes it works properly, and then, after the reboot or wake up from stand by it doesn't... I'm really confused now... What else should I try? Maybe the USB connectoin is loose or something? My wireless didn't work in the beginning and when I checked inside I noticed that the antenna wires were disconnected! They haven't connected it in a factory! Can you belive it?!? Where is Acer's quality control??? I highly doubt if I buy anythig from Acer in the future...

I have the similar problem. I did a fresh XP Pro install and install the logitech webcam driver. I only install Acer Launch manager but did not install any Acer power management, Acer prensentation, etc.
Which Acer program for webcam are you refering to here? I used the Skype 2.0 and also eyeballchat 2.2. They both freeze on me. I am wondering if the face tracing and other options have anything do with the freezing effect. I suspect it is more than likely do with the logitech driver problem or some kind hardware resource conflict.
But I will try the driver again. Any other suggestion? Can I use any driver directly from Logitech web site instead of the one from Acer? if so, which one at Logitech web site is compatible to the one provided by Acer.

this is a known problem with acer orbicam, but usually only with the bison or suyin cams... the power cable for the internal usb camera can become disconnected.... or fail intermittently
