Well, I'm one of those people who understands that after having a hardware firewall and a safe browser as well as common sense, there's a good likelihood that I won't acquire viruses or other malware unless I specifically ask for it.
So far, my understanding has been correct.
Psycho--you may find my postings in this thread to be irrational according to whatever standards you set for yourself but I've been virus and IE-free for two years now, and there haven't been any problems with any of my computers in relation to viruses or malware. So... I have no reason to act or speak otherwise.
I think running virus scanners daily is pure paranoia and I wouldn't waste the resources on it. Instead, if I was a user who does that, I'd think about beefing up my firewall and keeping people who can't use computers away from them, if the particular case needed to be addressed.
