Update did nothing btw, noting in relase notes, same as prior update as far as i can tell
On the subject of power saving with this system, if you don’t know, and plan on buying one of these, when running on battery power the system modifies the CPU power settings.
On an AMD X2 4400+ settings change as follows
On AC power->Battery Power
This takes each processor core from 2.2Ghz to 1.0Gzh at a very low voltage.
Let me tell you this, 3d gaming is nearly impossible when on battery power.
I have been in contact with AW MANY times on this issue, for those of you thinking “just disable Cool n’ Quite” well, its not cool n quite doing this (and there is no cool n quite setting in BIOS)
It’s definitely hardware based by CLEVO.
Most of the AW reps I worked with said they will find my fix, but my last response was as follows.
“When the system is disconnected from the AC power source, the computer will automatically clock the CPU down in order to save energy. This feature cannot be changed, essentially because the system requires AC power for full operation. Playing games is one of the toughest tasks you can ask the system to perform, requiring full AC power to run adequately.”
AW reps have lost a lot of integrity with me so far, but this guy is the worse, I cannot think of a single other hardware manufacturer that offers mobile products with power saving utilities that cannot be turned off.
I mean, a PM 1.8 runs faster then my AMD X2 4400+ on battery power lol.
Still working with AW, but willing to bet I wont get a fix soon.
