Hi there. Yep, I'm playing Oblivion on my m5500 (2.0GHz GPU, 256MB go6600, 2GB RAM). The game plays well - I'm playing at 1024X768 res with some of the goodies turned on, but not all. I don't get lag at this res, and the graphics still look good. I can play it on a higher res setting, but really don't notice that much difference in appearance and it can lag a bit unless I turn off some of the distance drawing settings which I prefer not to do.

Hey shazza,

Have you thought about loading Oblivian on your 7500 to so you can see the differences in the graphics? Might be interesting...

I've only played the game a little, but I'm not as jazzed about the graphics as everyone else seems to be. Some things look great, but some are rough and cartoony. Then again I've only played just long enough to get out of the first dungeon so I probably shouldn't say anything until I play it more.

ohh ok sounds good! i have a 1.83 gig m5550 128mb card and i just got the game today and havent tried it out yet, how are you liking the game so far?

You know, Hammerhead - I'm glad to hear you say you're not all that impressed. I think it's a good game, but it's not blowing me away - and I am an RPG fan. I fully intend to load it up on the 7500 with the 24" widescreen display. I'll be able to max all options and see what this game can deliver. Just haven't had time since returning to Australia, but will probably do it tomorrow. I'll be sure and post some comments re the differences.

I like the game - just not seeing the same wonderfulness others are raving about. I'd highly recommend you try a few other games like Neverwinter Nights and Knights of the Old Republic I and II (if you haven't played them already) - they will play very nicely on the m5500.

I can also add that Guild Wars and Everquest II are very playable on the m5500. I've stayed away from WoW, but assume it will be fine also - given EQ II is supposedly a more graphics-intensive game.

Hey Shazza -- how long have you been playing? I felt the same way until about 20 hours in when I realized I was totally hooked. Try the Dark Brotherhood quests... they will OWN your soul!

I'm sure I'll get more into it. So far, I've played about 8 hours. I think my problem is I haven't been able to dedicate any long play sessions - which is usually how I get wrapped into a game. Don't get me wrong - I like it, just not totally hooked yet.

But aren't the Dark Brotherhood bad guys? I swear I cannot force myself to play the bad side in these games. I tried to replay KOTOR as a SITH and just couldn't do it. It must be that Catholic School girl guilt training...

Don't worry - elder scrolls is a good game. I mangaed to play for about 3 hrs straight today, and can't wait to get back to it tomorrow.

yeah its a great game, i have it on the 360 but it is impossible for me to join the dark brotherhood. whenever i kill omebody it always says they're unconscious. then a guard pops outta now where and i have to go to jail (i am really poor in the game)

i think i read that you are able to chose certain class, such as a knight or a assassin and what not, which one do you guys think is the best?
You choose your race and class - there are quite a few to choose from. It's generally easier to do this type of game as a fighter - so look for a race and class that give you the attributes and skills you need for fighting - strength, endurance, blade, block, heavy or light armor, etc. Also - you might want to visit http://www.elderscrolls.com and check the forum section out, where there are lots of tips.
