inspiron 5150 - smokin or a jokin?

I recently purchased a dell inspiron 5150 during the outlet sale with the following specs:

p4 3.06ghz w/windows xp pro
512mb 333
geforce fx 5200go 64mb
60 gb 5400 rpm
24x dvd/cdrw
15" +sxga display
1390.00 bucks w/ case and shipping and handling

is this system good enough to run recent games without lagging too much or was I wrong to think that nvidia would hold it's own against a radeon 64mb 9000 m?

If anyone has a similar system - could you let me know how you like it?!

I have a similar system on the way now. I'd like to know what people think of this system for music applications too. I know the speakers suck, but I plan to pick up some nice outboard ones.

I had a hard time deciding between the 5150 and the 8600.

Well from what ive heard from others, the 9000 should be fine for the games of today. The big deal with the 9600 is for the dx9 games of tomorrow like half life.

To be honest my old desktop (athlon 1900, 1st gen radeon vivo) still runs todays games fine with options turned town a bit, so you should have no problems.

so the 5200go is not so great?

so, what about the computer as a whole. I have outboard speakers - a klipsch 2.1 system, and other than the video card, how do others rate what i bought according to the price? Did i do good boss?

I returned my 5150 for a totally (seemingly) insignificant reason: The tilde and Windows keys are placed in unconventional locations. Bugged the sh!t out of me, the notebook just had to go.

Otherwise though, I thought the notebook was excellent. Very speedy. I had exactly the same configuration as deathinacan. I was completely satisfied with the notebook other than the keyboard.

Well, maybe the plasticky feel was a bit too... plasticky, but otherwise, no problems. Hope the keyboard layout doesn't bug you as much as it bugged me. =)
