about the omega drivers, they still disable the Ati powersaving features?
Which is bad :/

edweiser63, you said you messed around with some settings besides getting the omega drivers, what settings in particular did you change?

Maybe its just my ignorance showing, but where can I get the omegadrivers? I have a I6400 on its way and I want to be able to get it going as well as possible as soon as possible.

I dropped the res. and changed of a few of the settings to medium, but left textures and lighting on high. Also I dropped the field of view to about 70%

I used the OmegaDrivers in my now defunct eMachines M6805 for its dedicated ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 (64MB of VRAM). They definitely made a large difference in the few games I played like SW Kotor/Kotor 2 and City of Heroes/Villains. Of course, a better card in that machine would have made it even better Shame the mobo/videocard in the machine bought it, but with luck, my E1505 should arrive this evening.

So would everyone agree the x1400 is an ok card for gaming? If you don't turn everything up to full?
i just sold my XPS2 that had the 6800 ultra card in it,
I wanted something more portable and lighter, so i had to give up some stuff.
I now have had the E1505 in my sig for 2 days and i love it.
yea the X1400 isnt as good obviously, but it runs better than i actually thought it would. I wasnt expecting it to be amazing. But i play bf2 everyday and im running the game at 1024x768 with most stuff on medium. it looks just fine for me and the framerates are ok.

now i wish i could overclock it. the latest version of powerstrip wont let me do it. I try to change the clock settings and it just sits there, doesnt change. anyone get this card to overclock?
Im using the omega drivers too

I have a Dell 6400/E1505

T2400 1.83Ghz Intel Core Duo
1 gig 667Mhz DDR2 Ram
X1400 ATI M 256MB
60gig HDD 5400 RPM

I get 61-75fps on BF2 and 40-60 on artillery explosions 1024x768 Resolution

I have the Omega Drivers installed, and all settings on medium no AA, nothing.

I believe that FPS would be higher if BF2 was not such a ram hog.

Here are some pics, look in the top left corner for Frame rates

You need v 3.63 of PowerStrip for it to work. Reports are that the latest version does not work on the x1400 at least.

Specs are

1gb ram
60gb hd @ 5400
ATI x1400
1900x1200 screen.

edit: I turned down a lot of the effects and I'm still not quite pleased.

BF2 can played on medium settings. Your resolution too high making it lag
post #55 of 56
I agree 1600x1200 does struggle i get from 15-25fps on that res and high settings

BF2 is a resource hog. To say that you expected a card like this to handle MAX settings on a game with explosions, 3d enviornemt, and so much going on for anything less than a top of the line laptop is just ridiculous. I play it on medium settings just fine.
