Why There Are Problem With The m100 ????

My problems might be an isolated case, but im returning it mostly because some kind of hardware issue is causing my computer to freeze during start up. Along with the fact that more can be had for less.
Im Kinda New In The Laptop World, But Im Pro In desktops, The Problem Why It Is Freezing Its Becuase there is a prog. that is loading up @ start up and it is not compatible with the specs you have or it is not supported by your windows version. the thing is that that prog. is trying to load, and it is not loading, that what causes the freezing up , i recommend unistalling it, if that didnt work a format.

wish that helps

I've formated three times - two with windows xp media center 2005, and once with the fresh toshiba OEM install. It froze randomly right off the bat with each install.

It's a hardware problem.

by the way , im getting my m100 today not recieving but ordering

A-Data. I've ran tests and the ram is working perfectly fine, though.
this RAM its not the one comes officialy with toshiba ?
I suspect it's the compatability of the software, and also you will know it which one by uninstalling one of the programs you recently installed, until you find which caused the freezing. It might be the ddl's that are corrupt, especially when using pirated ones..
I've got A-Data RAM as an additional one (bought at the same time with my Toshiba and already put inside) and it's working without any problems

X1400 is enough to play most of the games, not in the highest details (it might be compared to a Ge Force 6600)

I'm not really after notebooks for hard-core gaming and encoding but just for the fact to use it for programming and stuffs.

Can I change the processor to a centrino duo later on because it has a solo processor at the moment??

Looks like a nice notebook. You'll dedfinatley want to increase the ram though.

As I understand it you should be able to swap that CPU no problem to a CoreDuo or even a Core2Duo once they're out, but unless you have it done at a Toshiba ASP, then you'll void your warranty. So you might be better off just getting one with the CPU you want from the get-go (if you can).

I'd say wait another two weeks or so until new models hit hte shelves witht he latest generation of Intel's cpu. That will give you more options and should drive the prices of current notebooks down a good bit.

Toshiba m100 dvd drive :(

I've got the unit already but the dvd drive really annoys me. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the dvd rom speed aside from setting it to normal in the dvd silencer settings? It's really disappointing watching dvd movies so slow..
