The only thing that scares me is if my Epenis says "made in Taiwan" or there is an "Pwned by China" stamped on my ass.

agile, I agree with you, though I'm not surprised. Rahul caught a lot of flak (much of it justified, IMHO) here due to his handling of the Voodoo/Kimble fiasco, and, it seems, people have long memories. Unfortunately, he lost the respect of many NBF posters over that mess. Perhaps now he'll gain back some of what was lost?

"Dell said Alienware will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary following completion of the transaction and will maintain its own product development, product marketing, sales, technical support and other operations as well as brand. The management and founders of Alienware will continue to operate the company as a standalone unit of Dell."

so, seems that tech support won't be going to india

Thanks to the mod who helped here.

You're entitled to your opinion. I have talked to him a few times, and he is pretty nice guy, but I can see how he rubs people the wrong way.

I think Steve Jobs is an arrogant megalomaniac, but I ackowledge his marketing prowess and vision.

Yeah, we all live and learn. Not like Kimble is the nicest guy on the planet.

Thanks for the feedback.

The sad part is not that Dell aquired Alienware. It is unnerving to see so many corporate behemoths swallow up competitors and other business. I like competition and choice. It just typifies what is happening in America.

i buy from large companies but try to buy from the more personable and intimate "Mom and pop" stores and shops. If i can, I hit the hardware store over home Depot. I eat at a deli instead of Subway. Supporting small business is a thing I do.

Too much of our social fabric is "corporatized." I am still aghast at stadiums being named after corporations.

nonetheless, maybe AW can stay autonomous from Dell even though they are now a Dell "divison." SHould be a fascinating thing to see develop.
no I wanted an alienware before I read this now I will never purchase one...Unless the price drops and I will just use the case give my brother the crap LOL
post #193 of 622
Well, I am saddened by this too. I agree with the earlier post about the "soul" being missing now from AW. Dell may improve many aspects of AW business practices, and it may only benefit both companies. However, no matter how you view, buying an AW is now nothing more than a gussied-up Dell. Part of the charm of AW is their uniqueness and their boutique reputation, which is now gone.

I guess it is time to start investigating other private computer makers. Perhaps Biohazard or Hyper.

One thing I wonder is what will happen to the resale value of "authentic" AW's now? Something to look at.
They say AW will remain pretty much unchanged. I don't see why you're all so against AW now? It makes no sense. The quality will still remain high, they'll continue using good parts, and they may be able to build PC's quicker now. Where's the downfall in that? The only thing unique about Alienware is their cases. Anybody can put those parts in a PC but you can't find an AW case on the "normal" market.

looks like we all need to go get some dell wallpapers. I feel ashamed. like I've done something wrong. I need to go check if i've been raped. dell probably won't even give any crisco. dell powered alienwares. that's just what the world needs. I can believe AW folded to the compitition though. at least we can all be happy to know that we've got pre dell AW's. new AW customers will have to go over to the dell section from now on. j/k

since this has happened, am dumping my AW case, and buying a new one,

I NEVER WANT ANY OF MY BUDDYS TO COME ROUND AND LOOK AT MY AW AND THINK, GEE NICE DELL CASE U GOT.

since all the components are retail pieces, then a new box is all that i will need, then AW will never ever get my business again.... for which they will be thankful, as they wont have any more leet threads by me to look forward too.

It's been a long time since I've posted here, but I've been reading all these Alienware buying Dell threads for a while and I must say, I'm shocked that this happened. I feel like I've lost an uncle or something. Don't get me wrong--I still love my AW, but I doubt I'll ever buy one again. It just wouldn't have the same feeling to it anymore. I mean, I salivated over my potential order for months. I knew I was getting something special. But now, I can't help but think I would be getting something......Dell.

lol good call. maybe I can make my alien head look like a bug or something and scratch the alienware name off of everything.
You tell me how Dell benifits form allowing AW to keep everythig the same and Dell just dumping money into AW to speed up availability? Non and as every corp take over or merger as they are wanting to call it this time here, give it maybe a year for legalities to work out and AW will either be overhauled to the Dell standard of things or gone. It makes no sense for Dell to dump tons of money in without major financial gain, their business major financial gain, so do add it up.
