see, what'd I tell ya? everyone is coming back to Alienware, saying they would buy AW again after they said they wouldn't.

@ nelson,

One more thing I forgot to say to your original post...I'd like to congradulate you on the acquisition. To build something up so large that a company like Dell sees you as enough of a thorn in their side they need to acquire you is quite an accomplishment.

Oh, and hopefully you are taking such a godawful amount of Mike Dell's money and stock that you and your family never have to worry about things like money ever again.

Now go build us some new toys!

I have a suggestion. If the mods would declare a general amnesty and lift the ban on people from both sides, I think it would help get things back to normal. There was a lot of emotion the first 2 days and things were said in the heat of the moment. I believe it would help a bunch.

We are going to leverage Dell's supply chain and financing. Just those changes alone are enough to help us drive down costs and design even cooler products. I am 'extremely' motivated to take this brand to the next level. Guys, I hope you can appreciate what it is we are trying to do. I love Alienware more than anyone else as I am the original founder. I would never do something that doesn't make sense for the brand or my people!
It is good to hear this from you , thank you

You guys need to realize that Dell clearly sees Alienware as being what they want their gaming market to be. Dell can now focus on what it does best (servers/workstations/monitors) and Alienware can focus on what it does best (gaming laptops and desktops) but with the added benefit of improved financial backing (why do you think AW takes SOOOOO long to make a PC, it is because they do DIY stocking I bet, Dell does not so their order to ship time is waaayyyyy less). We fooking bitch about the phase game and delays. Well, this now can probably end. Dell and AW will have to prove to us and the rest of the elite gaming community the Mr Nelson's words are true and they likely will because Dell's investment will be moot otherwise.

Mr. Nelson, thanks for your assurances.

@ nelson,

we've all been reminded that AW's operations will remain mainly unchanged and have autonomy. but in the event that there is a disagreement between the AW brass and Dell brass, who gets the final word?
As successful as Alienware has been in the gaming industry, I doubt there will be much conflict.
Well, I guess I feel a lot better about this after hearing what Nelson has to say. As long as things don't change much, I'd still consider buying another rig from AW.
I don't think any of us doubted what the intent of the AW owners was in the acquisition.

We doubt what the eventualities will be, knowing from experience what mergers, acquisitions, and takeovers are like in other companies, in both similar and dissimilar circumstances.

I'm glad AW could come in and clarify their position. AWs rise to success is a model a lot of people would like to follow when they start their own businesses, although some of us might sell out to Dell and go sit on an island somewhere and drink iced coffee in our Speedos instead of continuing to work. I mean, some of you might.

Hi All,

Just my .02 cents, but as a Planning manager for a small electronics manufacturer, I could not begin to comprehend the problems and issues that could be alleviated from having access to Dell's supply chain. It is amazing to see what can stop a production line on any given day and all of the resources (Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, Planning, Test, Owners) that are used within a company to try to continue shipping products to customers without delay. Those resources are then taken away from product development and improvement. So I bet we will see some great things come out of Alienware due to the buyout.

With that said, I hope to be a proud owner of a Sentia for use at night school in the next few months and possibly replacing my custom built PC for an Alienware desktop once I pay off other bills.

Greetings all, been gone for a bit doing the thing so I have been missing out on all the juicy gossip and news. Sitting at work today, taking a breather, and one of my employees who has a stick up his ass comes up to me and says so I read that Dell bought AW. I said "what are you talking about, that's the craziest thing I have ever heard." Then thinking to myself I realized that all the info I needed would be here so I logged on and there it was a post stating AW acquired by dell. My heart dropped: I just bought my third AW for my company, and I live in Austin - I have spent the last two hours drinking guiness and reading dilegently everyones thoughts. I have gone from saddened to mildly dissapointed.

Nelson thanks for your visit and words of assurance.
I hope everything works out all right, time will tell I guess.

Cheers to you all

Thanks, finally someone who actually KNOWS has spoken up.

For me Ay-Dubbya (does that work, if not let me know and I'll drop it) will be able to benefit from those exclusive deals that Dell can get - like when they were the first OEM to install the NVidia 6800 Ultra due to an exclusive deal with NVidea - which was state of the art for a couple of months until ATI released their next one...

In the long term I'd expect AlienWare to benefit from the global supply chain of Dell, the muscle they can bring to bear on suppliers, and Dell will benefit from Alienware's expertise in cutting edge, innovative products...

Who can lose? Apart from those who don't care so long as they don't own anything that might be even slightly associated with Dell?

In 18 months we may all look back and say this was a fantastic move...but of course, there are those who will never agree, no matter what, simply because they don't want to, never mind what the owners of AW say...
