Dell Media Direct

Thread Starter
I know there are other threads about media direct, but this is not exactly the same. Here are my questions :
1. I currently have a 9300 that force loads windows to start Media experience. Dell tells me that even the 9400/e1705's do the same thing, but I get the impression from these forums that is not correct. So. Can someone please tell me, does media experience in fact NOT load windows to access dvd's and such.

2. I just ordered my Precision M90. I noticed it has the same media buttons on the front. Does anyone know if it has the same feature (Dell media experience)? And if so and the 9400/e1705 doesn't load windows, do you know if the M90 will (when pressing play from the off state)? Note: I know i can wait till it get's here, but it's ship date is May 10th and I am just curious

3. I would really like this functionality on my 9300 as well as I will be keeping it or selling it to my brother who would benefit from this feature. Does anyone know if it's possible (if it is in fact possible on the 9400/e1705)?

I thank you all in advance for any help you can provide me

Looks like the Media Direct button is there.
The 9400/1705 is showing where the Media Direct button is.

Yeah, and since he didn't say it...

MediaDirect on the 9400 (if you can get it to work that is, most people haven't been able to get it to work after reformatting the hard drive), will boot directly into it and play your DVD or CD without booting into Windows, thus saving battery life. However, the options are very dumbed-down, and the battery life savings is minimal, so I wouldn't even bother with it.

I pretty sure it is using some light windows core. Because everytime I shutting the media direct down, I can see the windows logo.
