If that is so, the laptops using it should be out around Jan-March time frame possibly?
Waiting 1-2 months is 1 thing but waiting a year is another

I do not think I will need 2 HDD.
I was planning to get the 1 100GB 7200rpm SATA HDD.
I also do not need a 7-1 reader, the 4-1 should do me nice and if anything else, I am sure the USB and Firewire ports will more than suffice my peripherals.

Thing is, when I did a price check with the UK version of the M570U it is ONLY $267 cheaper than the D900k!
Of course we do not know if there will be any changes for the US M570U and what the real price for it here in the US.
I did a price comparison of the UK D900K and it was ONLY $100 more than the D900K here in the US w/ exact same configurations.

IF the laptop configuration I wanted WHEN the M570U is released here is ONLY $267 less than the D900K ... is it really worth it to get the M570U vs the D900K still?
Yes, because you get a laptop almost 50% smaller.

/edit: Meant to say "almost 50% LIGHTER"

I just read that the AMD Turion x64 Dual Core is scheduled to be out on May 9th!

I wonder if the Clevo M570U can be made to run those chips?
The Sager 5950 uses the Turion x64 now and its chassis is almost like the M570U but bigger ...
Guess just wishful thinking while I am debating on my decision.

Be like me and hold out for a 64-bit dual core sli system in the 9750 form factor lol ....

In my dreams....

I will pull the trigger on a 9750 though if the x1900xtx mobility or 7900 gtx go are significantly more powerful than the 7800gtx go and are used in the 9750 in the future.

Not planning to wait that long for an SLI 64bit Dual Core laptop .

I did find some review on the performance of the ATI X1900 and Nvidia 7900GTX:
ATI Radeon X1900 XTX CrossFire VS. Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTX SLI

ATI's Radeon X1900 series graphics cards

The NVIDIA series 7 Graphics card galore... I think if I am really worried about 64bit Dual Core and want the M570 chassis, I may be able to have both IF I just wait until around summer time or later.
Worst case scenario would be me waiting around Xmas 2006 or just after the New Year 2007.

Waiting sucks

or I could just sacrifice battery life, portability, some quietness and sleekness if I just get the D900K now.

or I could also say screw the 64bit debate and just wait a month or 2 for the M570U 32bit Dual Core ...

Time to wait:

D900K 64bit Dual Core - Available now
M570U 32bit Dual Core - ETA ~May-June 2006
M570 64bit Dual Core - ETA Unknown

(guestimate via announced Merom release date ~ Late 2006 - Early 2007)

I'd get the M570U 32 Bit Dual core in a month or two, if I was you.

I guess I really shouldn't worry too much about the 64bit Dual Core issue.
By the time its time for me to upgrade my laptop, there will still be some 32bit Dual Core PC/Laptops around and MANY Games/Apps that will work great in a 32bit Dual Core machine.

Besides, I am not sure if Windows Pro X64 is decent or finally have the drivers up for most everyday needs.
And Windows Vista is delayed again until March or so, and God only knows when it will really be released.
And I am planning to NOT get Vista until at least 1 year of its initial release or until the 1st Service Pack for it comes out, which ever is later.
So to get the full potential of 64bit Dual Core, I will need a reliable 64bit OS ... and I am not planning to use only Windows based OS at this time.

Then of course I heard that the AMD Turion x64 Dual Core is due out in May 9th and the Intel Merom due out in September ...

As for accessories while I wait, I have been doing.
I feel like a junky waiting fo his next fix waiting lol

Because the M570U will more than likely be similar to the M570A except Dual Core, this is what I was thinking and looking for:

- TV-Tuner
heard some issue about it somewhere and not sure if i will use it right away anyways.
Do Not even know how it works as never had it before.

- SoundCard -
friend of mine said I can possibly find a good PCIMCA soundcard for less so may get that after purchase.

- Memory & HDD
May just get the basic memory that comes with it and buy a good set of RAM for less same with teh HDD.

- Backpack
I am still torn on this.
Debating on the following backpacks:

Here is my 1st choice:
http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=445
Booqbags Python XL System

Then my second choice is either the Aixo Forza or the Aixo Hyrbid:
http://www.axio-usa.com/

Think that is about it for now while I drool over waiting.

The release of this M570U for the US feels like its taking forever
The D900K is starting to look more and more better each day time passes

I even put 20lbs in my backpack and it doesn't seem to be that heavy ...
Should be a nice light workout

Hurry up Clevo M570U!
"The precious ..."
Already posted a review that I found about it in this forum also.
You can view the Clevo M570U Review here!
It looks sweet
Definitely going to get the ATI X1800 card for it instead of the Nvidia 7800GTX.

I also have found out that Yonah is pin-to-pin compatible with Merom
So that saves the 64bit issue as I "should" be able to upgrade the M570U later on with not much of a hassle.

Then I even saw another article that the Dual Core chips are getting a price drop around June!
