Thinkpad T60p for CHEAP

Hi guys,

Since the T60p is so DAMN expensive, I got an idea to buy it cheaper. It requieres high tecnical skills, but hey, this world belong to those with knowledge.

It's simply to buy the cheapest T60 you can find and swap the motherboard. All other components are standard in the line.

However, here in Mexico T60s aren't available yet and would like to ask someone for help. It's simply to call Lenovo and ask for the price of this FRU:

FRU: 41V9922
System board assembly, ATI M56-256

To see if it is economically feasible.

Why not just register on one of the unofficial Thinkpad user forums and buy from some of the employees who can get 25% discount?

Because it's still too expensive. Retail price is close to $3,000.

So if the whole thing is that expensive, what makes u think that parts of it will be really cheap?

Because they are not worth it. It is not the same to sell a product in the retail channel than to provide a service like selling spare parts.
