HP dv8000t or msi 1039?

This notebook is going to be replacing my desktop. Mainly i want something that's going to last me in the coming years for college and be able to play games well (mainly WoW and some CS). Just how much better is the x1600 than the 7400go?

HP dv8000t:
Core Duo-T2500
17" WXGA
256mb 7400go
2gb DDR2 SDRAM
80gb 5400rpm SATA
Lightscrive DVD-R/W (+/-)
Wireless /w Bluetooth
8-cell li-ion battery
Total: $1694

MSI-1039
15.4" WSXGA
Turion MT40 (2.2ghz 25w)
2gb DDR RAM (400mhz, single)
ATI x1600 256mb
60gb 7200rpm HD
MSI 2915 Wireless /w Bluetooth
DVD-R/W (+/-)
6-cell li-ion battery
Est. Total: $1675

I know the 17" screen sucks battery like crazy. Basically I am looking for a versatile performer; the HP has faster components but the MSI has a faster GPU. Also, do I really need 2gb of memory? Lemme know what you guys think. Thanks

1 gb should be enough for those games...

I would have to say the MSI 1039 should meet your needs nicely. Also, as boom noted the X1600 is a much better card than the 7400

I'm a hardcore nVidia fan, I hate ATI, but the x1600 is probably a better choice than the 7400. Also, I have never had a good product that said HP on it, from computers to printers (except laser) to digital cameras to iPaq... what else is there... Basically, I hate HP.

Yeah, just to kick a dead horse a couple of times, go with the msi. The 7400 is actually worse than the 6600. Crappy naming schemes make me angry (I almost talked my brother into a dell with a 7400 before realizing that).

You won't get any better battery life with the MSI, though, since it has a tiny battery.

Why did the folks at MSI make that design decision?

It hasn't been tested yet but the MSI 9cell may work in the 1039.
