Best Gaming Notebook For Under $1300? - Page 2

If you get the MSI 1039 with a 40gb HD, a 1.6ghz AMD Turion wiht 1mb cache, only 256 mb of ram and XP Home and wireless, it comes out to $1299. If you already have XP you can remove that and add more ram... or you can buy the barebones with just the cpu and buy a cheap HD and ram off of new egg and add it in yourself. Check out xmeld

The MSI 1039 should be easily upgradeable. So get the basics, even crappy 256mb of ram (MAKE SURE YOU GET WIRELESS, that is so important and trying to sell it later without it will be tough, or so I think). You can always upgrade ram later, as well as a HD. Adding a hundred more to your budget would make things alot easier

go here:

Click buy now and price it. Then go to www.newegg.com and look at laptop hard drives and laptop ram, which to save money you buy off newegg then install yourself. That will better help you!

I say build your own and go with the MSI 1032 barebones ($625 915,Pentium M, 6600) , 2GB memory ($182, newegg), Pentium M 1.6 off ebay ($75, pinmod it) and some sort of hdd ($67 newegg) ... You should be able to do this for $950 shipped (if you have XP already). Otherwise you could move to 1GB memory and pick up an OEM XP Home and still be at $950 shipped

Hunt on the Dell outlet for an Inspiron 9300. They come cheap, and you have the option of getting a 7800GTX in the future, if the finances ever allow.
