Thread Starter
Hi, I've downloaded the new Clevo 80+ (? I don't remerber the exact number) drivers for my Nvidia Geforce Go 7800 GTX and I've obtained a 6874 at 3D Marks 2005 ( 6642 with default drivers)

This drivers was designed for Clevo based PC and it suit well my laptop with nice results and good stability under many games...

Try it...

Thanks for the heads up. I was just at their site recently looking for Clevo drivers, don't know how I missed that one. The modded inf is for the m5500, there isn't one for the m7700 unfortunately, but they're probably pretty much the same.

If you're going to download the 84.22 drivers, don't download the modded inf by whitetiger (is that the name?) since you have the 7700 which has a GeForce 6800. His inf doesn't support that (you can find out more on the link provided in the first post)

I just read the posts of whitetiger here and it says that his new inf supports various laptop and video card models, including the 7700 with the 6800, but the last inf mentions that it's designed for the 84.21 drivers, would it work with the 84.22 from clevo?? right now i'm not able to test it, will do so when i get home.

Oh cool, let us know if it works

well, i just installed them, and there are a few weird things i found out. First, when i copied the modified inf to the folder, i noticed it didn't replace an existing inf...the drivers came without an inf. Then, when installing them, several files were missing, i looked for them in the folder but they weren't there. I decided to just hit cancel, and see if it worked without those files. After restarting, everything worked fine, there weren't any errors. I noticed a few extra things, like an option labeled "Nvidia Control Panel" when i right click my desktop background, but the option does nothing. Another thing i noticed is an extra option under the PowerMizer options, which appears to control the screen's dimmer. Other than that, i find them to be the same as the 84.20, 21 and 25, i had the same performance with all of them (same fps in F.E.A.R. and basically the same 3Dmarks in 05).

I think the reason why the modded inf didn't replace a file is because some of the driver's inf are named a little different, I'm not using the laptop right now so I can't check and tell you what exactly. So, the modded inf was made for another driver that does have the same file name, and the driver you tried it with is using the other inf file name (all I remember right now is that it starts with a "u" after the "nv_" part)

What drivers give you the best 3dmarks05? Look at my sig for my system specs, do we have the same vid card?

well, today when i turned my lappy on i got a bsod 5 seconds after starting windows, and it pointed to the video drivers...i restarted and got the same bsod again, so i decided to switch back to the 84.25, which i was using before this clevo drivers.

Lately all the last drivers have given me the same 3dmarks, in the 4090 - 4094 range, these drivers are the 84.20, 21, 22 and 25, which i'm currently using. And yeah, i guess we are using the same video card, but i dont know if u also have the ddr3 version.

Do you use Driver Cleaner Pro before installing drivers? Try that out if you want. First I uninstall the drivers I want replaced, reboot, run Driver Cleaner Pro, then install the new drivers, reboot. It does clean up the dll's and registry entries left over, so it might help you get rid of a conflict if there is one, or something.

thanks for the tip, mordy! i will use it next time i upgrade my video drivers, but for now i'm going to use the 84.25, i found no advantages of the 84.22 over the other similar versions
