Ok, b/c I'm a newb to your boards, I'm not sure how you guys benchmark your computers. I simply use the Everest Home Edition Test.

Ok, let me run down the basic specs of the computer:

Intel Celeron M 1.5 Ghz Processor
256mb DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM (Which I've Upgraded to 1gb)
60gb 4200rpm Hard Drive (Which I've Upgraded to an 80gb 7200rpm)
15.4" WXGA widescreen TFT-LCD with Ultrabright technology
etc....
I've also added a USB2.0 DVD burner to the system, so you might notice that in the Everest Report.

Nice, I also have that computer. One good benchmarking test is Super Pi. Calculate Pi to 2 million digits and post the time. Get it HERE

Thats decent for a budget, with my MX6121 I got 2:01, but that was after a reformat.Anyway, how are you liking your MX6121? I found mine to get a little bit slow after 5 or 6 applications were open, but once I added a stick of 512 MB RAM bringing it up to 768 MB, this thing flies now! Now I can have Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Limewire, AIM, Everest Home Edition, and 5 or 6 Internet Explorer Windows open without a hiccup! Also, I really like the UltraBrite Screen, very bright, crisp, clear. Pretty good deal for only $599. (or for $549 for you lucky people who bought it a couple weeks after me)

Also, another good test to see the performance of your hard drive, is HD Tune. Check it out HERE

I'm loving my computer now that I got it back. If you have any problems with it, do yourself a favor, take it to Best Buy and let their "Geek Squad" do the warranty work. Don't even bother with the Gateway Tech Support. To much hassle...

Yes, with only 256 ram the computer has no chance with the way I compute. I've always got 4 or 5 internet explorer windows open, plus my email client, 360share, etc... After bumping to a gig I've been smooth sailing. My sister bought the same computer, and I gave here my 256 chip so she has 512 now, and her computer zips through applications nicely now too. I am a little upset that her computer gets about 45 more minutes out of the battery than mine, but it's ok. I still get around 2:45 with heavy application use. Again, for a budget PC, You can't beat this. Not to mention the wireless range!!!!!!! Wow!! Right now I'm at work, in the back of the bowling center, router is up front in the office, we're talking almost 200ft away, and I'm getting "Very Good" signal. My uncle's Dell can't even pick up back here, and my cousins hp picks up the signal, but barely. You've got to think, a lot of interference in a bowling center, but the wireless card in my baby eats it up!!!

use firefox...you will never go back to IE.....and by the way, congrats on the wireless connection! does the router have signal booster?

My 6121 is mostly used on a wifi network, within 50 feet of router. I also carry with me during work and all the motel 6 in my area offer free wifi I can always pick up the signal from accross the screet from the property. Same with a few McDs.

No signal booster on my router.. and I'm not a big fan of firefox. Sorry. I used it for about 3 months, and just didn't thrill me enough...
